Re: Various OT lightsaber parts (update October: MPP shrouds available)
C'mon payday! Will FINALLY complete my vader-ish heiland when I put my order in for Roy's parts. Just in time for Force Awakens premier! I'll also have parts to get a decent custom flashgun saber together too!
Apologies if this has already been alluded to, but Kylo isn't wearing his helmet during the fight with Fin on the snowy forest. Maybe he wears it to intimidate rather than functional like Vader?! Also makes more sense of the production shots of Adam Driver in full Kylo Ren attire without helmet...
Progress! As I can get the emitter shroud, screws and emitter innards out I thought id attach the grips! All seven on. Not quite perfect but I'm happy with a first attempt. Pretty much eyeballed it. Surprisingly comfortable in hand too! I have. However managed to bond the end cap on I think, no...
I doubt they were carbon. It was a young and expensive material back then (still is expensive!) used almost exclusively in aerospace and Motorsport, where it was initially seen as a gimmick. Aluminium is light and strong enough to have been certainly the preferred material filming for ESB and ROTJ.
Yeah this was a couple of quid for 100 of the suckers.
Maplins order came today. Lots of useful things. I forgot to add the wire on however. The led lens looks wonderful. Due to the depth of the internal emitter piece and the height of the LED I need to use a washer to elevate it. Only a...
that's the website I used funnily enough!
I've now got 100 of that spec resistor on the way courtasy of eBay. Hopefully its a common spec for LED work ;)
I *may* have done the same a few times ;)
I'll take your lead on the appropriate resistor type. Will source one and purchase. I hope my 15 ohm resistor comes in handy sometime >.>
forward voltage 1.85, forward current 30.... as per the website.
The very first circuit will be a 'test' just to have a play with a single LED and then with lessons learned and skills gained, build from there. I wanted a 150 ohm resistor and not a 15 ohm one >.<
This is the LED i'm using with spec sheet on the page.
Any help with power source/resistors etc would be grateful so I don't blow myself up ;) 10mm Red LED | Maplin
It's just the one 10mm LED to begin with, pretty much to break myself into electronics as I never studied it at school apart from theoretically.
I used an online calculator and the fwd voltages and current and it churned out that resistor with 4 AAs giving out 6Vs I fully intend to use a 1w...
Tiny bit more progress!
Not had another more answers from JQ regarding the clamp/activation box even though they said they had one in stock. May have to follow up on that. Bought some basic electronics from Maplins to experiment not expecting it to be bright enough to light a blade, its the...
