Re: MST3K Revival - Production starts
Real Life has kept me off the RPF for months. Tonight I had some free time, logged in on a whim, saw this post, and downloaded Pluto TV to my Roku...
This must be what it felt like to steal your neighbor's cable back in the day...
Hmm...my first thought was that you could pull apart an old CD/DVD drive, take out the mirrors/beam splitters and attach them to a small spinning motor. Those optics are TINY and could probably offer some neat effects.
My second thought went to the collection of 'crystal' beads I got at a...
Vaguely OT but, I've never heard of those outside of a dentist's office. What are such adhesives like to work with? What is the strength of the bond?
More on topic, I'm so jealous of everyone who already has of these. Come on Christmas surprise...
I am SO excited to see this thread! I have been wondering about that remote ever since it popped out of Jeffery Jones' sleeve! I always thought that this prop had a cool design. I'll be very excited to see what is known about this one!
Just finished watching...that was so much fun!
I watched "An Adventure in Space and Time" first, a wonderful way to butter up the Whovian psyche, then dived right into DotD. I won't lie...happy tears everywhere! SO MUCH FUN! Both specials were phenomenal. What a love letter this weekend has...
They're actually REALLY good, for the most part. The Chimes of Midnight, from McGann's 2nd "season", is some of my favorite Doctor Who over any medium. They're definitely worth looking into!
As for the continuity issues...it's Doctor Who. :lol
Wowzah, E Williams, that looks great! Like the Doc said, that's a hell of a finish! I'm a little envious...:behave
Good work! I think the crackle come out pretty well too!
Re: 3d Printed Doctor Who Props by Doctor Octoroc (building & finishing thread)
I have no idea if I'm applying it correctly, but that color is straight outta the tube! It's aptly called, Patina 76364D.

Thanks, I'm gonna have to give that a try! This battery situation is more serious than I thought! I bought a fresh A27 YESTERDAY and today it's dead. Didn't think I played THAT much.
But aside from possibly...
I finally managed to get my Alt 8th finished - this is definitely one of my favorite pieces in my collection. When I get a new battery for it tomorrow (downside this thing EATS A27 batteries, may have to try a different type) I'll post some pics.
Building this sonic has been a great project...
That looks FANTASTIC, TickTock! Nice work on the paint. way to get those electronics in! Would love to 'take a peek under the hood' if you have any pics. Nice work, hope mine turns out half as good!
After this project, i'm definitely in for a 2nd run from DocOck! These are great little kits!
Small update on my electronics progress!
I received the sound/light module for the DIY Sonic kit - and it had a defective sound chip! one of the sonic noises is messed up, and would drive me crazy if I put into my Alt 8th.
Nonetheless I've been able to learn some things that I think could help...
Truthfully, I'm not totally sure yet, but mostly likely no more than an inch long in most cases. I'm pretty sure the speaker, sound chip, and LED should all fit inside the top 'winged' section - albeit snugly. I imagine those wires are going to have to be annoyingly short...or thin...
