It finally happened guys!
Sorry for the poor image, I just wanted to get a quick picture and didn't want to take the part out of the oil it was packed in. Ted sent me tracking information about 2 weeks ago. The part shipped out right away and was got stuck in outgoing postage for a few day...
Hello, I took a brief read through the thread. If I understand correctly, the glasses will be available for purchase through your site one they ready? Do I have that correct? I am absolutely down for a set of 4.
Hello, I am just curious about when you ordered your parts? I have been waiting on my cylinder since April 26, 2020. I am just curious how far back in the queue I might be.
I placed my order Apr 26, 2020, I'm patient. I told myself I would re-blue my whole blaster when it came in, so I am actually not looking forward to that :p.
Glad you all enjoyed my project and I hope it inspired you.
Alcadude, do it. Don't let anything about a project like this intimidate you. Just about everything I did I was able to do with tools from Harbor Freight and Amazon. I just took everything in manageable chunks, and learned new skills...
Part 6: Final
With everything complete, it is time to start final assembly of my lightsaber. This time, with the added bonus of trying to fit about 25 feet of wiring and additional electronics.
The first thing to do was work on the activator and options switches. The switches I ended up...
I can. I made STLs for the whole thing and the corner rivets. And I ultimately made everything into SVG files for the laser cuts.
My ultimate dream/goal would be to cast it and make/sell resin plates. But I am not well versed on the whole trademark world to know if something like that is even...
Part 5: Cleanup
This project is heading towards the home stretch. Here I am going to finish fabricating some of the final pieces, then get everything assembled for a test fit.
In order to light up the crystal chamber, I am going to need to fit a small LED under the quartz “kyber” crystal. To...
What joberg said. Also when you go to assemble step one and add the cylinder release lever, definitely do that step in a box. You have to install a pin in a hole with a spring in it. If your finger slips, that spring can send the pin for a ride...
Neat info, the steel you are referring to us actually a nickel alloy called Mu-metal which blocks magnetic fields. You will notice that despite how powerful those magnets are, it is strongly diminished on the other side of the metal.
That is great to know. I think i am going to pick up one of these kits now. I always get a little sketched out buying 3D prints off Etsy because I am never sure if they are just someone selling a print of someone else's model/work or if they are the maker themselves.
Thanks for the info.
Part 4: Fabrication
In this part I am going to focus on the fabrication of all the metal chassis disk components to replace all the temporary laser cut acrylic and 3D printed parts.
The first order of business was trying to figure out how to cut even/consistent circles out of aluminum and...
