The right 3D software, need advice

I also recommend rhino and have been using it since the first beta back in '97 - If you want to 3D print or CNC the models you need something that uses patches not polygons. When you export to STL you can control the mesh density to ensure the physical model ends up smooth. It makes me cry...

Excellent Single Pack Adhesive for Resin - Plastic - PVC

Re: It is the GLUE that binds us. Testing some now - Acrylic vs renshape - hopefully it'll be a viable (and cheaper) alternative to epoxy

    The TANK from TANK GIRL

This might be old news but... there's a piece on the front of the tank that looks suspiciously like the front of the SPV's from Captain Scarlet Is it possible the Art Department on the film made a maquette by kitbashing model kits - then built the full size tank from there?

Q: punching holes in EVA; which tool?

they're called "wad punches" or "hollow punches". Harbour freight has a set for $9.00

Am I reading this right? Are they auctioning off Galactica and buck Rogers?

I think I started hyperventilating when I saw the catalogue pics. Nice closeup of the 1/24 Harrier pilot in the viper - might have to repaint mine to match. I just hope they end up somewhere open to the public....

Bandai plastic & Turpentine: a warning to STAR WARS modellers

I use naptha AKA lighter fluid which is a suitable solvent for oil or enamel paints but it evaporates much quicker than turpentine. It seems to be having little effect on bandai plastic. Turpentine will soften styrene if it's in contact with it long enough. Naptha doesn't. It's also known as...

    Testers dullcoate did it again.

I've been using this stuff - matte acrylic non yellowing thin 50/50 with water then add a couple of drops of windex (or whatever blue glass cleaner is native to your country) to break the surface tension. If you spray it onto a gloss surface without the windex it'll form droplets on the...

New Zvezda Star Destroyer Model kit

Revell re-boxed the Zvezda Black Swan kit - the one that was supposed to be the Black Pearl from POTC. If Revell Germany have an exclusive license for Star Wars kits in Europe - then it makes sense for Zvezda to let them sell it under the Revell brand.

    Top Gun F-14s (1/48 Hasegawa F-14A)

I'm building 2 1/48 F5's (Classic Airframes F5-B twin seat and an AFVclub F5-E) to paint up as Mig-28s before tackling an F-14 and an A-4 so I know how small those parts must be. The effort you're putting into accurizing the cockpits is insane.

    007 moonraker shuttle

You should make a 747 for the shuttle to sit on. This is a 1/72 Revell shuttle on a (heavily modified) vacformed 747 kit . It's only 38" long :p

    Cursed Projects

Some rustoleum paints seem to be pretty much incompatible with anything - even themselves. I had a nice yellow base coat of rustoleum 2x extracover on a model - masked and sprayed with black from the same range of paint (after several weeks of drying) and it basically acted like paint stripper...

    Zvezda: Black Pearl 1/75 Scale

Revell also released the black swan kit - simply called "Pirate Ship". It's Revell #05605 I called my local hobby shop to see if they could get the Zvezda kit and they said they could order one in at an exorbitant proce. Turns out the had the revell kit on the shelves but didn't know it was...

    Suuuuuper simple led resistor question

I think you've kind of got it. LED's don't behave like a normal light bulb - where you could wire 6 x 1.5v bulbs in series to a 9v battery - The current is what's important and the resistor limits the amount of current though the LED. If you wire 2 different types of LEDs in series that have...

    Suuuuuper simple led resistor question

you need resistor for each batch of Vf otherwise some won't light. So work out the resistor you need for the 3 whites and 9v. For the different colored LEDs - I'd use a single resistor on each one - then wire the circuits in parallel to the battery. A 9v battery should be able to run as many...
