    Shield rim help

Dunno if I'm following you correctly or not, but you want a rim for a round shield? Have you made the shield? Why not just draw around it? Or pin and string, or even cut a flat strip of (whatever you wanna make it from) and wrap it around... If I'm not mistaken the metal rims of round shields...

    Heimdall pepakura file anyone??

For the record, I'd be willing to make a proper one of these, for a commission anyway, I work in the film industry, usually animatronics but often costume props/armoury, so this is the sort of thing I make all the time professionally. Obviously it'd be a resin/fibreglass piece not metal, but...

    Q: Finishing Cold Casts

I personally like to hit it with 240-400 grit before going straight to the scotch bright, be careful to go one direction and you can get a nice brushed steel look, this method does however totally negate using the method of powdering the mould. However I find that's a patchy way to do it anyway...

Help sought animating Annabelle from "The Conjuring?"

Also the neck being stiff to turn is easy to fix, either lubricate the inner bar/outer tube, or take the inner bar out and sand it down a little bit (or if you can, turn it down on a lathe, dunno if you can detach it as I can't see the things you're working with)

Help sought animating Annabelle from "The Conjuring?"

Without seeing what you have to mechanise its hard to explain exactly, but yeah best bet is a chunky servo, tires are crap tbh, but if you mount it well a gear system will work fine. im going to assume the head cylinder protrudes from the bottom of the hollow 'body sleeve' if not, can you cut...

    Mass Effect M3 Predator WIP

its looking surprisingly good for the materials used, im quite impressed, what sort of machines do you have access to? or is this using the old hand-o-matic? also with your primer layer, youd be much better off using very light short sprays as opposed to blasting it til its covered, using light...

    Hulk Suit...The Real Deal!

Just looking at your leg pics, you're only up to the hulks knee and you're already at the actors crotch, you might find it wise to put a 'stilt' in the foot, to raise the actors foot, you could easily fake an extra half meter in height there, if you put the actors foot in the calf, this would...

    Hulk Suit...The Real Deal!

This is a pretty impressive task guys, I genuinely hope you do it well, I've been looking into making a fully animatronic hulk head for a little while now, I work in animatronics for films, and feel this would be a pretty fun project to work on, finding time is the problem though. Might I add...

My Harry Potter Golden Owl statue

Do you have any pictures of the owl in progress? Why did you paint the pieces before adding them on, then again after? Or was this a little learning curve thing? But kudos on the sculpt, you clearly have the eye for detail good job!

Best glue for broken resin part?

Ok there are many types of glue, but there are also loads of different resins, what type is it? Polyester? Polyurea? Polyurethane? For urethanes superglue, is crap tbf, for polyester it's great, CA glue is chemically pretty much identical to superglue, if it's a urethane you're trying to glue...

Skyrim: Khajiit in Nordic Carved Armor

Just reading through this thread, some very creative ways of achieving goals, though on the health and safety thing, I understand why you don't want to use fibreglass/polyester resins, they are bad for you long term, and short term the fumes are a major depressant, however using urethanes as a...

How to make my clay prototype.. plastic!?

This all totally depnds on your sculpt btw, if it's a simple shape with no undercuts you're going to be fine. I always advise mould release, I personally prefer paste wax, but it's not always ideal, sometimes spray wax is better, but for a rough surface spray wax is usually pointless and...

    What's Your Favorite Movie Sword

Re: What's Your Favorite Movie Sword So your friend is Jody Samson? [/b] Nope. Mish made the Father's, no others. [/b] Hmm, can you elaborate on this? Cinefantastique Vol. 12, No. 2-3, states that the FatherÂ’s (or MasterÂ’s) sword was first designed on paper by Ron Cobb. Then the...
