Hehe sometimes I do wonder if the people on this board are so much more than just enthusiastic fan boy/girls.
In my experience (I worked as a fashion designer and technical designer for about 10 years, went to school 8 years for it), without a fit expert to customize every pattern for the wearer, it is hard to achieve a flawless catsuit that fits the whole body. The question of a patternmaker can craft up a pattern is totally possible, but the fitting will be so intensive and, you wouldn't even recognize the original pattern afterwards. In that same logic, my suggestion for you is to buy 2X the stretch material you will need to complete the outfit, and use half of it to make the pattern. You are right that there is a specialized field for stretchy knits + swimwear/underwear collections.
The reason why Gem had the batwing effect was because the armhole of her suit is too low. I would have raised the armhole to fix that.
I am in agreement that cat suits are only for those who are body confident. With that confident, it comes with such grace that I applause them. :thumbsup
