Neil's V1 Lambda Shuttle restoration

Hey guys,

Im restoring the first Lambda Shuttle made our own VOS, Im very honored to do it and I cant say how good it is... and it's only the V1 !!!

The shuttle came to my home with the portside wing broken, rear gun missing, cockpit broken, and several parts coming off, plus paint chipping...

There is no doubt that the first owner of this one didnt care about it...

Anyway the second owner asked me to repair it but didnt want any alteration of the original work made by Neil.

I did my best to not betray Neil's work.

The left wing was broken in 2 parts , the wing itself was very heavy and it was quite challenging to get a strong assembly between the 2 parts together as the core of the wing is foam.

Cockpit glue in place :

The wing was finally reglued (you can also notice the paint chips on the gun barrels) :

Even after having carefuly glued the 2 parts of the wing in place, there was still a big crack/gap. I filled it and sanded it, of course the paint suffered of that :

Neil gave me the reference of the paint he used (and that I used on my shuttle), but since I was working on a small area, I couldnt use a rattle can... So I tried an old mix I did to do touch up on my first ISD, 3 years ago... and it's a perfect match !

I have to rework a bit the area where there is an arrow and add a bit more weathering where it is repainted.

The shuttle should fly very soon to its home !

Couldn't be in better hands for a restoration, she's had a hard life already by the sounds of it!.

I know who bought this from Neil on ebay,as I talked to the guy several times when he relisted it for what he originally won it for - including shipping costs! It was in Greece. This guy didn't lose a single cent. He said he bought it because he wanted it - my guess it that he didn't want it very bad after he got it. He said "I wanted it,but I couldn't afford it after I bought it." I asked him why he started the auction at what he won it for, including a $75.00 shipping price, but I never got an answer - not that I was expected one. :thumbsdown
