Envy Envy Envy!:eek

Just one real deal Sterling and three real deal Scopes here!!:cry

Probably Scott has to chime in about scopes variations?? :wacko:confused

Regards,

Alberto

I don't normally offer this but I would love to trade for a deac L2A3. So, I have some Kenner/Hasbro 12" if interested friend. I know, sweat deal right? Right!

Proceeded with digging through my storage and found 4 more tank scopes, that I couldn´t even remember owning :lol
Two of these are obviously some variation to the standard...
A M19/ M32 with added rear lense assembly and "shroud" on the front, so it resembles a M38/ M40
A M40 scope with crinkle finish and a lense insert at the front I haven´t seen before either.

Any idea about the background of these two scopes?

(and NO, I DON`T KNOW why photobucket is messing with the orientation of the pics ?! :darnkids)

I also dug out the box labeled "Sterling PARTS".
It obviously paid off, that I did my deac-shopping before the new laws applied two months ago.
There are five full Sterlings in the box, plus two part kits :cool

Have another unconverted L2A3 and two unconverted MGC Sterlings on display in my mancave, plus the converted ones on my blaster wall.
I love being a hoarder...sometimes :lol

I know the M38/M40 variant with the screw in type small lens was actually used on a very basic, entry level microscope setup. I have one of these as well and I bought the microscope to get it, not realizing the exact differences. I think after the war, the manufacturer was trying to repurpose these and they either sold the microscopes or sold them to another company making the microscopes.

ALready posted about this in the Jawa blaster thread, but wanted to add this to my own thread as well...

Not much has happened over the last months, just collecting and rearranging stuff, BUT...

I finally made some progress with the Jawa blaster, NOT made from an Enfield!
My first intention was to scratchbuild all greeblies, that have not been identified as of yet, but I decided to give 3D modelling another try (all my previous attempts FAILED).
So I jumped head first into SolidEdge ST8 and worked my way through it...here is what I came up with about about 12 hours of work

My first 3D models :cool
There are quite a few areas, I am not happy with but I can not figure out how to solve the issues with my -less than- basic 3D modelling skills :behave

In addition to that I cut and shaped the shoulder stock and prepped the venturi tube.

Thx for looking!

Sweet! I haven't followed the other thread in a while, so are the purple and blue pieces real parts or custom machined?

By my own experience as soon as you scratchbuild a part or sell a base gun (Jabba blaster.......) because parts aren't available, then the real parts are found. :lol

Thanks gentlemen :)

The rear end of the receiver is an aircraft hydraulic coupling, the front an exhaust venturi from an old De Havilland plane.

Yep...I honestly hope that the very moment, that I place my $400 order at shapeways, the mystery parts will be identified :lol

Still have to TRY and refine some areas on my models...might take some time, as with everything I do :rolleyes

$400? :wacko How big are those parts? What sort of refinements do they need, do you want any help with the models? I'm a 3D modeler, and I have some experience optimizing models for Shapeways.

Proceeded with the 3D models for the various parts during the last two nights...all that´s left is redoing the "yoke" for the 10th time (the accurate profile/ radii of the front are giving my headaches :facepalm) and working on the trigger. All other remaining parts will be scratchbuilt.

Looking at the trigger again, I am pretty sure it´s some sort of tighteing lever for a WW2 MG gun carriage (mugatu suggested this to me IIRC), look at the two pics...see the similarities? the correct model is still a mystery :(

And here is the original blaster for reference
StarWars%20blaster_zpstelctrcc.jpg

They had this at the Visions exhibition in Japan. What never came across to me was how huge this blaster is! Your stuff looks great, hope the exhibition moves to a more photo friendly venue near some members.

After a long period of prop related silence, here are some progress shots on the Jawa blaster.

I will have to redo the "Yoke", since I made mine about 9mm too long. The trigger assembly is something I am not happy with either, so I´ll redo it a third time :lol

Not bad what a man, with only one useable hand can do ;)

Thx for looking

OMG your work is incredible I cannot compete with this, I'm just not worthy.
Im in owe of your work, my Vader build is toy town compared to this I applaud you.
Subscribed :thumbsup

Very nice ! Not my personal favorite blaster, but you did a great job.

I've been wondering where you've been the last month..?
I was deperately in need of some prop porn ! ;)
