I can finally say that my quest to create the most accurate Darth Vader displays has come to an end.

I hope you like him. I had a very difficult time deciding on the poses as well as how to light him.

I'm interested in hearing which pics you like the best.

Let me know what you think.
ESB pics will come either much later tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Re: ANH & ESB DARTH VADER - finally complete!!

So far, force choke but I would need to see where the other hand is.

A second choice (not shown) would be the 'pointing left hand' pose from the SW VD.

Re: ANH & ESB DARTH VADER - finally complete!!

Outstanding! Can't wait to see the ESB version!

How are you lighting him? It looks as if he is lit directly, and you're getting some glare off of the armor. Have you experimented with bouncing the light or diffusing it?

Re: ANH & ESB DARTH VADER - finally complete!!

Thanks guys.
I tried a lot of different lighting variations, but I wanted them all (for the most part) to have a similar feel.

Re: ANH & ESB DARTH VADER - finally complete!!

Very cool that you are not locked into a single pose! I vote force pinch because you just don't see any others doing that.

Re: ANH & ESB DARTH VADER - finally complete!!

Thanks guys.
It is very liberating not being locked into one single pose.
If I get tired of one after awhile, I can just move him around a bit.

This one.

"I've been waiting for you......."

Still get goose bumps when I hear that.

Great job.

My favorite pose for ANH as well.
Come to think of it, I think it's also my favorite sequence in the whole movie.

I'm glad that you caught that.
For some pics, I made an effort to match memorable scenes or well known promotional photos. Not an exact match of course, but I hoped to at least capture the essence of the particular pose.
So you calling that out makes me feel like it wasn't a waste.

Re: ANH & ESB DARTH VADER - finally complete!!

Fake! Photoshopped!! There i said it!!!
:lol
Gino, those pics are great. The ANh mask alwasy looked like it was thrown in with a pair of stone washed jeans in the washer. You NAILED it! Nice touch! Fantastic pics, and the poses are just great too. Thanks for sharing.(y)thumbsup:thumbsup Cant wait to see the ESB one, that one is my all time favorite.

Re: ANH & ESB DARTH VADER - finally complete!!

Dude, thats, well nuts! :cool

I personally like the Vader shot where his hands are on his belt... beautiful.

Re: ANH & ESB DARTH VADER - finally complete!!

Your style of photography is very professional...nice work. I know you've said it yourself but seeing how this Vader is presented makes me think that the exhibit people that work for LFL could learn a thing or two...it reminds me of the photographic style you see in the Dressing a Galaxy book...very formal.

But honestly....is it ever really finished? I think part of the fun of having a suit like that is to keep tweaking it, kind of like an old hot rod... :)

I know we butt heads on many things, but hey, I'm an ANH Vader fan so seeing a completed one is cool... :thumbsup

Re: ANH & ESB DARTH VADER - finally complete!!

How can it be finished when there is another ANH display that is more accurate with a better helmet?:lol
