Cutting styrene with a glass cutter?

Hello!

I'm new here and I have my first question.

I need to cut some large circles out of styrene (3mm).

I can't use a router.
Is it possible to cut them out with a glass circle cutter?
I might get one cheap-

Regards,
Karin

Use an x-Acto knife it will work MUCH better than a glass cutter. In fact a glass cutter most likely will not work, or be very poor.

Get a set of trammel points
Here is an inexpensive set, use an xacto knife in place of the pencil:

what about making your own,you could get a piece of wood and glue a needle or a small nail in one end to act as a pivot point.then drill a hole inthe other for a xacto knife to fit into and use that as the cutting end.you can then make it as big as you need.

thank you, don!

This is the kind of set up I was thinking about.

Too bad I do not know what "trammel points" are called in german. And micro mark does not sell in Europe.

Are the any german speaking prop builder who can help me out?

Best,
Karin

Thanks you mado aswell. This helps. Did not think of ebay.
Making my own would be cheaper (as you sad) but how to adjust it?

by the way: I am really glad I am here. So many helpful peple!

sorry i thought you just needed to do the one size,if you just need to do 2 or 3 sizes .you could just make one for each size.but if you are to do lots of sizes if might be easyer and cheaper to buy the trammelpoints from ebay.

to make one adjustable would invole a lot of work
