How much Alginate?

Can anyone tell me how much alginate I would need to cast an average adult male face? I see it for sale in 1pound, 3 pounds, 20 pounds. What do I need?
 
Are you doing the whole head or JUST the face? If literally JUST the face, like a 3/4 face cast forehead to chin I normally use between 1 and 2 lbs. If your just beginning I'd just get the 3lb. kit and play around a little bit. It'll give you a little bit of fudge room.
 
1 pound of alginate should be fine to cast a face, but I would get 3 pounds just to be on the safe side because you don't want to run out of alginate half way through and only have half a face set. You do have to work really fast when alginate and water meet.
