Noble Collection Indy Whip - Any accurate?

So, Whipspecialists, any accurate?

I was looking at the fall, and it´s rather flat, I am not sure if the fall was flat in Indy´s whip. Of course, I KNOW I should get a DelCarpio, however, money constraints allow me to upgrade only to a certain degree at a time.... Hence my question. if it´s any accurate, and it cracks well, I could stick to it for a while longer than my first whip, which to be honest, is a piece of crap.

Any opinions?

If you're getting down to the level of whether the fall is flat or not you should stop at the number of plaits already. No not accurate, and for the price it appears there's an opportunity once or twice a year to get something more accurate (see the JY) for nearly the same pricepoint.

Last time this question came up a week or two ago I didn't bother posting my speculation, which is think about the nature of retail marketing. How much did they have to pay for this thing to get made? Who therefore had to make it? How much do they know about making whips, do you think? How much work and quality of materials went into it? Is there a braided belly do you think? Given that it's probably not made of 'roo hide do you think the balance is going to be good in those dimensions (I'd bet no, but maybe they did something clever with whatever's in there).

So far no one's shown up who owns one. Hmmm...

I wouldn´t go as far as THIS level of detail, but I must thank you for deciding to write in this thread, Serafino. This is very good and I´ll peel my eyes for it on the Junkyard, thank you for both the opinion and the suggestion! Thanks a lot!

And I still hope to get some Obi-Wan ANH parts from you one day.....

The Obi ANH stuff will be from the RussRep and Howard team nowadays. ;)

Good luck Hermes. Maybe you should post a WTB in the JY. Maybe someone on the $220 Indy whip project list (closed) needs Christmas money or something. ;)

I have a whip made by Gus Caicedo, it looks good, it cracks fine and it was damn cheap... There are other options out thare for a good whip, forget that Noble one... It's awful in my humble opinion! ;)

It's a piece of crap. Nothing more than a costume whip whose price is jacked to the moon for the sole purpose of paying for the LFL license.

If you want an accurate Indy whip, it's easy enough to get them from their respective whip makers, David Morgan and so on. The real deal CAN be had, but the cost is quite high. That said, much better whips can be found for roughly the same amount of money as the POS every once in a while. Keep a sharp eye out. They pop up now and then.

I'm still planning to get one.

It's not accurate and its overpriced, but it's still plenty cheaper than a David Morgan. And if you pick up a Morgan, you've got to take good care of it. Crack it all the time, keep it clean.

I don't have the time for that. I'll crack it once and hang it on the wall for eternity.

I just want something to look good on the wall. And you get the wall hanger!

As far as I'm concerned, I'm paying $200 for the Indy wall hanger and looks-good-enough whip.

You know, this kind of sums up how I am thinking, but then again, I know once I complete my Indy collection, the Fedora, Whip and gun will all be displayed together so the wall hanger at that point won't be needed.
I have been researching this whip for a few days now - like the Fedora, there are many options available. As with the Fedora, the best ones are also the most expensive. I'm not looking to take my whip into battle or go on adventures with - BUT I do want one that I can crack every so often, and certainly one that is as screen-accurate (raiders style) for no more than $200.
The question is, how accurate is the Noble Collection version? I have seen a video of someone cracking it - so I know it can do that, but for how long the quality of this thing holds up, well that is still out for debate.
The other option I was looking at is the whip offered at toddscostumes.com.
Good price, looks reasonably accurate, but again - is this simply a costume accesory or a REAL whip? Real whip prices can go very very high, into the thousands. I have decided to invest time and money into QUALITY Indy gear replicas, the kind that serious fans and Indy costumers would only buy - keeping that in mind, I cannot allow myself to purchase an item that is known to be inferior and/or innacurate by most common standards of the Indy costuming community.
I still have a lot more research to do on the whip, which thanks to the posts over at Club Obi Wan, have been moving more smoothly.
I would still love to see some customer photographs of the Noble Collection Indy whip. You can never tell what the final product looks like because these license holders love showing off great looking prototype pics but deliver less-than-expected products...

Depending on what you are going to do with it, Todds would be your best bet.

Some have said they are all right for a wall hanger

No offense to anybody but that noble whip is junk.

Look into a Strain or keep your eye peeled on the Bay as I have seen some nice whips go for a pretty decent price frosty!

As you are finding out it's better to pay for something that is quality and will last then upgrading later.

I have 4 Morgans and I only dress and crack them twice a year.

I agree. Todds whips are far superior to the Noble Whips and less expensive!

Here is Todds' whip with my collection:

You know something buddy - I have seen you post this pic of your collection somewhere before and I gotta say, it's one of the things that helped inspire me to start building an Indy prop collection!
Not to go OT here, but can you tell me where you got the gun from?

I agree. Jedifyfe's collection has always inspired me as well. (Especially the "Romancing the Stone", "Jurassic Park" and "Indiana Jones" props.) I too have been curious to see close-up pictures of the Noble Collection bullwhip & wall-hanger/display. For some reason, a lot of their products look a little different in real life than they appear on their web-site. I was able to get a 10 ft. David Morgan a few years back, and I've been very happy with it, but they definitely are a costlier option. I decided to go "all-out" for the whip only because it'd been such a dream of mine ever since I was a little kid.

No, the hat is a Herbert Johnson that I got last year from Todd' Supplies. (I don't think he sells them anymore.) If I could go back in time though, I think that I would rather get a modified Herbert Johnson fedora from Indy Magnoli's website.

Ahhh. I'm workng on getting a hand made Penman, but I also may want the adventurbilt Henry too. You hat looks great, you should post more pics of it (in a thread that is about the fedora of course)
I am nearly sold on the whip from Todds, based on some reviews and my price range. I have to email Todd and pick his brain a little on the matter before I commit to any kind of sale.
Most guys over at COW are all about the expensive upper-class Indy whips. I'm not that much of a whip guru, but I do want a reasonably accurate Indy whip that I can display and crack once in a while...without breaking the bank.

I am having trouble finding someone who actually OWNS one of the NC whips. Even on COW, members seem to generally have an unfavorable opinion on it, yet no one actually owns one.
Very peculuar. It looks very nice - and I do like the wall hanger and that packaging it comes in. Sure, it will look good on display and even worn with my Indy gear - my whole thing with the NC whip is if it is quality made enough to give it some cracks...
:confused
