Paint not curing on resin

Hi gang,
OK, so I've got this part...it's resin...it WAS painted, but horribly. I sanded it down and re-shot it. There are like 3 small areas on the part that the paint didn't cure on. So I stripped it back down and did it again. Same problem. Used some paint stripper, took it all the way down to bare resin, washed it well, and painted it again. Same thing. I've tried acryllic and enamel both, and nothing (not even a primer) will cure on this thing in these 3 small areas. The rest of the piece is fine....

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Doug

It sounds like the resin is "weeping"...usually happens when the resin is not mixed properly or the resin used was just old. I've had pretty good luck baking weeping pieces in the oven on a very low setting. This usually dries it up.

Thanks guys, it's a small piece (E-11 mag housing) so I'll try baking it...

I'll let ya know what happens...

A good SOAPY bath, and a basecoat of Krylon FUSION usually works for me.

Vegas Vader...
