Clear coat, or oil, on blueing agent, and paint combo?

I'm working on a few different metal props, that I intend to use a blueing agent on. In some cases "aluma Black" (or is it Alumi black), in other cases "Purma blue".

On most of these props I'm going to be using paint as well. Sometimes treasure gold (a wax basted rub & buff paint that will tarnish if not sealed some how.) in other cases, acrylic, or enamel.

Anyway's my question is, if I use a blueing agent, and then add paint details, should I use clear coat (I usually like one of the Krylon clear coats.) Or, should I use Oil? (since it is mostly blued)

Maybe I soul also ask, Can you even successfully clear coat blued metal?
