X-Wing--Paint Colors

I have just started on the captain cardboard SS x-wing and was wanting to get a list of correct colors to paint this as accurate as possible

Also will be doing the x-wing ss kit and would like the exact colors as accurate as possible to

Rouge Studios told me the real SS X-wings were done with a black base and then gloss white on top of that, the red strips are Floquil Caboos red then all weatherd accordingly.
My CC X-wing done as Red leader.. I just found some really good pics of Red Leader in one of my old mags that had some great paint details I missed that I couldn't see before with my referances, so I will go back soon and add them to this.

I think my Red Leader came out pretty close following his advise.

SN told me the ANH TIE's are nothing more then grey primer with darker grey detailing, black solar panels, with NO weathering of any kind.

My SN TIE before Steve told how they were really painted, after how long it took me to mask this puppy I wasn't about to go back and redo it. :unsure

Are the TIE solar panels supposed to be gloss, semi-gloss or flat black? And what brand grey primer? The ANH screen ones look to have a slight blue tone, although not as blue as those in ESB or ROTJ.

Steve told me the ANH TIE's were light primer grey only, any color difference is due to studio lighting.
I didn't find that out until after I painted mine.

Your other thread says you gotta Hero TIE, I think I would just leave it the color of the real Koolshade material, I couldn't see ILM painting it if it was already black.
I painted my resin wings TIE semi gloss, I don;t know if it is correct or not.

Maybe Tamiya light gray primer ? Would be really cool to know which primer was it exactly
