+RDA SIDEARM

Hey folks, i want to share one of my favorite projects with you:
The SN-9 "WASP" break-open revolver, used by Col. Quaritch and several RDA SecOps

Ok, the plan is to build it all from paper and cardboard, then fill the 'case' with resin and make it smooth from outside, let's see how it's going to work...

At first I drawed a template where I can take the dimensions from:
1fc10ad91f9186925951d14abde71883.jpg

Then I transferred it on thicker paper and cardboard, and glued it together, same with the trigger frame

The rail , to mount the scope and the flashlight ( I guess [emoji848] !? Maybe it's a Laserpointer !? ) is made from pieces of pvc-scratch

I know, they are not very symmetrical, but the scope+flashlight will fit on them, so you will just see them from the side...

The last thing I was able to do this evening was to start the flashlight, which is set under the barrel.
I drawed a template for it too:

And it worked!!!

That's it for today, tomorrow I'll finish the flashlight, the scope and drum-section and start with smaller details, like the screws, trigger or this switch, where the hammer should fit...

Hope you like it !!!

Some new progress:

I fitted the scope

And the screws, Drum sections, trigger, and the grips

Now I'll build the last few details:

After that, I can smooth and fill it with resin...

Looking good. I've never done a build like that before. I think it would make me a little crazy to build with paper, but I'm tempted to try it.

Nice to see some multiple WASP builds going on!

Good effort on building that weapon in cardboard. Since I`m building stuff out of card stock/cardboard all the time, I've noticed that the grey-ish cardboard you're using is not of the best quality; you should invest in better cardboard, since you'll be able to sand it (300 grit sandpaper minimum) and spray paint it without any issues. Your base should always be top notch, since it's going to make your life easier at the end. Keep on building!

Thanks for all support and useful tips!!!

Yes, I do admit this 'regular' cardboard is not the best material... but, ok, you never stop learning !

In this case I think the cardboard is good enough to stabilize it with a thin layer of fiberglass
Up to now I primed it with resin and now I have to wait until the whole stuff is dry...

But meanwhile, I got something to do until the WASP is ready for sanding

The regular RDA sidearm

I have to attach the magazine+trigger, and then to sand and smooth it a little more
After that, I can lay some fiberglass on it too

Yes I recognized it too... but I don't think I can keep up with that awesome all-metal build [emoji17] jealous jealous jealous jealous [emoji30]

RDA sidearm is ready for smooth&sand now :

The screws will be removed later...
This was my first time using wood to build a replica firearm, and I have to say for small/simple guns it's very recommendable !!!
using wood was much more comfortable than using cardboard, which is not usable for construct detailed roundings and curves ...
I think it's gonna be a satisfying result !

You're using Pine...very soft wood to work with, be careful with your sanding (there's still bumps and areas to be taking care of) Your prep is paramount to have a good end result!

UPDATE:

After my dogs explored the joy of paper ( the cardboard was an old pizza-box, I guess it smelled nice... [emoji849]), I had to restart the revolver, this time using a pepakura-version

I think it's an even more correct one then my first attempt, so may I have to thank them ?!

Some progress on the RDA sidearm too:
I casted it, so I can sand the workpiece better then the wooden one

There are three bigger bumps which I have to remove, and some small holes to refill too
