BVS batarangs

I started making a batarang for a friend's birthday and I was really enjoying doing it so I decide that I was going to built both of them and share it with you guys. I made both of them in fusion360 and printed half of the first one, I then engaged the fun process of sanding and filling but that was a matter of an afternoon. I am currently moulding it to have two half that I can glue together and paint. I'll be posting the rest of the built this week for the first one (cause I need to finish it for my mate birthday ^^) and will move on to the next one.

The dimensions are based on the actual props so they are movie accurate and very close from the originals.

So I made a mould and a few unsuccessful cast but finally got two good one that I can glue together. In one of the side I incorporate magnets for the futur display. Next step is to glue the two half, fill the gaps and finish it nicely before paint.

The sanding is done !!! After two layers of Tamiya primer and some spots of Tamiya filler I finally have a perfectly result. I used some 500 grit wet sand paper and then a 2000 grit wet sand paper for a really smooth finish ! I might do a new mold of it tomorrow so I can cast complet ones for who ever want one. I also made a magnet stand do make a nicer display.

What are the dimensions for them? I modeled both as well and I'm not sure the exact width. 8"? 8.5"?

They look beautiful.

Thanks ;) I just finish the paint and will upload pictures tomorrow.

I both made them 8" cause on the reference I used they are the same size

Just finish the paint and give it to my friend this morning and he's happy so mission accomplish !

Paint:
I first use a gloss black enamel base and then use some chrome alclad. I then mask the blade parts and spray it in flat black.

Weathering:
I first scratch the all surface with a scalpel point (randomly), I then use a sponge with a grey acrylic wash to create texture and break the flat black surface. I finally went with a really small brush and some metallic paint to do some random scratch to give a proper over-used look.
