My T-70 X-wing 3D model

Here's the T-70 X-wing from TFA that I've been working on for a while now. While there are a few small model details still missing and a couple slight inaccuracies, I'm quite happy with where it's at. Having never tried to accurately replicate anything from a movie before, it was a real journey trying to find good references of all the details and a lot of fun doing so. Gained a lot of respect for those who have come before. Then everything else that went into making it look half decent was good learning too. Now to learn how to make a real model of this like some of the other awesome modelers around here.

Enjoy, and May the 4th be with you.

Very nice! Not a lot of reference available for this x wing. You've done an awesome job.

Thanks, glad you enjoy it. If there are any other angles you would like to see, let me know. There are a lot of smaller details you don't see in the above renders (or much in the film for that matter).

Very nice! Probably the best rendition I have seen so far (beside the actual ILM model). How did you texutre it? Mari? Substance Painter, or good old hand painting in Photoshop?

Wow, thanks for the compliment. :D

Substance Painter was my texturing application of choice. Actually used this as a showcase to convert a friend of mine from using Mari to Painter.

Yeah I use substance painter a lot too. Mari is better at handling many high resolution UV tiles, but substqnce is so much faster!

I haven't had the pleasure of playing around with Mari, but that's what I hear too. I know a couple of VFX studios that have or are in the process of switching over completely to Substance. Each has their place, but the Substance tools are making some amazing progress, and they're just so much fun and so simple to use.
