what paint should I use on spandex lycra?

I used acrylic to dye spandex green, works pretty good but didn't have any gloss to it. I mixed the acrylic paint with water and then soaked the spandex in the water. Turned out pretty good, still had the stretch it needed, and worked out pretty well.

Texture pretty much stays the same, for instance, if you have a tight weave in the material it'll stay tight and a loose weave will stay loose. I'd recommend getting a small swatch of the material and testing it to see if it's gonna do what your wanting.

In that case, you can get some paint from hobby lobby that is screen printing paint. Put the costume on a body double so that the designs won't get broken when it gets stretched, and paint your design. They also have screen printing kits(or did last I checked). If you want the costume to be flat while doing the painting, you'll want to make a cardboard body double so the costume has the right stretch, but can still have a screen printer used on it.

I'll mix the slick puff paint with silicone, and paint it into the suit with a sponge or a paintbrush
