I've been trying to find a new way to practice faux patinas and weathering so I came up with this drone head design in Rhino and 3d printed it. Made a mold and casted several in Smooth on Onyx fast. I think I have a total of 40 at the moment god enough to show.
These are all mainly for my Senior Exhibition at California College of the arts and my portfolio, but it's also just a great way to play around and experiment with painting techniques.
All of them are airbrushed in some way or another, ( first time doing this to.) most are casted plain, others are cold casted with Steel powder to play around with oxidation.
The rust varies from acrylic mixed with cinnamon, iron based paint. and the weathering and battle damage vary from acrylic paint, charcoal, run n buff , metallic lacquer, and graphite pencil rubbed in there to give it more of a steel shine.
I still have alot to touch up before my show, but here are some of the best ones
