Best Non-Spandex superhero costume fabric

Hey, I am looking at making a jacket and pants suit for Booster Gold, but I am trying to decide the best material to use. I am most likely using a gold leather/pleather for accents but otherwise I am undecided. I have toyed with a royal blue 200 Denier Coated Oxford, but I am still not fully sold on it. What are your suggestions?

royal blue 200 Denier Coated Oxford, This is not a good choice for comfort. Coated fabrics are not breathable and thus will be hot. Just a thought.

I'd go with a Cotton or poly/cotton twill. The more cotton gives you more breath-ability. The more poly, the more color fastness. (less fading).

Spandex is simply a fibre added to other to make for stretch. Stretch comes from fibre and weave/knit So you can indeed have a twill that stretches as much as many kitted fabrics. It's pretty cool.

I recommend a 4 way stretch spacer/sports mesh. It's will give you a look along the lines of recent marvel and DC films. I mostly find two way which works but you need to use all those seams to create shape not just sew them down as if they were purely trimming.

I used some in navy on black for my Maria Hill inspired SHIELD uniform.

Ignore that this is listed under neoprene, there is no rubber involved.

This is closer to what I have

these can be very dimensional and not terribly giving.

Also sports mesh, again same term to use single layer as well as double layer:

Pique can look good, often though it is just dimpled rather than really dimensional:

A lot of the raised details in film work is through very heavy screen printing, but you can get really good effects with self textured materials especially with staining and weathering effects.
