Chewbacca China Mask (upgraded)

So I decided to get a Chewbacca costume from China, a less expensive version then the Disney version, I am not looking at getting something that is movie replica but rather something fun that can be worn for Halloween. I have been working on the mask and have made some decent improvements from the out of the box version.

First thing was to stuff it with a towel and brush it out.

I then cut off and trimmed the large grey moustache that was on the mask and saved the hair for later and took some black and brown/ burnt umber acrylic paint and painted the latex white mask to hide the white cheep mask underneath

This hid the latex really well once I was brushed out again. I then took that same paint and worked it around the eyes and nose as well and took some small pieces I clipped off from thicker spots and filled gaps with hot glue and the hair. Then blended it back in with the paint and brushing the mask again.

Once that was done I took some of the moustache I clipped off previously and used liquid latex to apply the moustache back on with some more hair around the nose.

Again touched it up with paint and repainted the lips, mouth and teeth. I also took some of that extra grey hair and hot glued it in a few places to add some more diversity in the sides of the face. After some brushing it turned out alright

I have also repainted the bandolier to make it look more realistic and will be adding an actual leather bag on it. And painted the feet so that they are not all one tone dark brown they turned out more greenish with the colour over top I might darken them back up a bit.

I also brushed out the body and started using a dry brush style painting on the fabric in between the hair to blend in the fact that the hair is not perfect. Should do the trick. I am going to try and make some foam stilts/ shoes to bring me up to 7 feet ish. And may try and make the masks mouth articulate.

Looking much better!!! FYI: On his YouTube Channel, Adam Savage has a full tutorial on how to make a Chewie's bandolier, with measurements and the whole 9 yards, in case you'd like to upgrade yours. Keep up the good work!
