Hey guys, you might have figured out that I'm a huge Adventure Time fan and that the series is ripe with potential props. I thought I would make this thread to act as a one stop source on the RPF for links to previous Adventure Time related prop builds as well as a thread for current projects. I made a bit more progress on the Axe Bass. I now have all the hardware on hand and everything pre-drilled. I tried a base coat of a gloss on the back of the guitar and I realized that I have a lot of imperfections to touch up before it'll look good with a glossy finish. I couldn't find any decent square stock aluminum for the frets so I decided to just use the real thing! I just have to use my grinder to skim off the tang off the back of the fret wire but the end result looks great. Here I am fretting over the details...hehe, sorry bad dad joke.

So awesome! I love props from cartoons, where you're bringing a stylized, non-real-world object into the real world. There are a lot of creative choices to make in translating the object to reality.
 
We talked awhile back when you were making BMO - I still love Adventure Time and hope one day to tackle more props from it. Please keep posting your stuff! Maybe some build threads so we can see how you are making such great stuff as well!
 
Hey bud, whatcha been up to? Have you tackled any Adventure Time props lately? I will definitely post some build threads. I want to build Billy's gauntlet and his sword and at some point a Lich King costume...actually it's a long list. Hehe! I just had a little weekend project and made a handful of Me-Mow daggers.

No, I was using my printer for more Star Wars type stuff until it had an issue during the holidays. I need to order replacement parts for it but have just been busy sorting Lego recently!
 
Sorry i don't post on here often but here's another Adventure Time prop i made. Finn's flute! It was a pretty straightforward build. I used a pvc pipe and heated up spots to get the bends in it and then heat formed some styrene for the detail bits. The sprout was sculpted with epoxy putty and the cloth wrap is thin styrene also. I wanted it to keep it's shape.

It's not a working one. I just used real hardware. Though if i had used a strong wood for the neck i could have made a working one. I don't know how well it would play though, hehe!
