Bespin Landing Platform for 1/144 Millennium Falcon

Added the building lights and did plenty of sanding then hit it all with some primer to highlight any further issues.

Applied Sand Biege as the main platform/building colour and medium sea grey as the angled border.
Think I may have gone a bit heavy weathering the building, may need to tone it down but it does make it more interesting.

The sand biege looks a lot lighter through the camera.

Still need to make the main cone yet, and undecided whether to add the main pillars red lights, just conscious of too many lights especially when the Falcon will be lit too.

Spent the week sanding, filling, sanding, filling and much more sanding until I got pretty much the shape I wanted (not perfect by a long shot but I know my limitations!). Anyhow I blasted it with some model air sand beige and some white for the kerb stones before sealing it and adding some weathering.
next is the main pillar's red lights and the circular vents spaced around the sides and then a lot of tidying up.

While it's looking good, the sanding could be better. Are you sanding the edges of the platform with a machine? Looks like you're using some kind of semi-gloss paint; it has a tendency to show every little problem you're having with the smoothness of the rim. I can understand that sanding ain't fun and maybe you could spray a coat of mat varnish on top of what you have already, it could hide a lot. (just my 2 cents;))

When you're right you're right.
the uneven elements didn't look too bad in just primer but they looked a lot worse with the top coat. Decided not to mess around and got to stripping it right back and sanding as smooth as I could manage:

Then re-primed, painted, weathered (although it's not showing on the pics too much) and then a coat of Matt cote:

And then added the lights:

Wonderful display concept and execution . Just wondering , ' Cloud City ' has been around for ' ages ' right !? , and in all that time it's been exposed to the volatile elements surrounding it , ie it isn't pristine anymore . Have you decided upon what type of weathering you're going to apply to this ?

Cheers Ged :thumbsup

I figure Cloud City has Roombas or something scrubbing the walls and stuff.
