Genji build (completed)

Heyo people!

I just wanted to share my Genji build from Overwatch. The build took about 2-2,5 month to make, and it was much much fun.

Materials I used: Mostly 5mm EVA foam (some parts are 10mm), craft foam, hot glue and contact cement, wood glue for prepping the painting part, green LED strip and acrylic paint. Ah and some transparent worbla too.

So I started with the reference pictures. Luckily, Blizzard provided some very good reference pictures of the overwatch characters, so it was a little bit easier for me.

So I started. First, I made the hands. These are craft foam. I drew the shapes and cut them out.

Then I moved to the arms. Drew some templates on paper, to try it out if it works, and if it did, I cut it out from EVA foam.

Basically I used this method on all of the pieces. Here are some more WIP pictures.

For the undersuit I used a spandex lycra suit. I had to cut the hands off, because it wouldn't fit into the gloves.

The helmet is 10mm EVA foam and the visor is transparent worbla. I used a small part of the led strip. I glued two pieces in the corners of the visor. These are powered by a 9V battery.

And how did I make the transparent worbla to be green? Good question! I used some wood glue mixed with green food coloring. I coated the worbla with this mixture and that's it.

So this is it, in a nutshell.
And the full costume:

And, at a hungarian convention (MondoCon) I got nominated for the best accessory

And that's me on the stage:

If anybody have any question, that I didn't cover, please feel free to ask!

Have a good day!

I dig it - Overwatch stuff is always cool; the character designs are just slick. I would do this kind of costuming if I was tall and thin, lol.
