Con is sold out, some transfers are happening, rooms are being sought, (for my part The Wife and I are looking for roomies at the Marriott, but there are caveats- no snoring/cpap/etc and no party-hearty types... ie no coming in at 4AM stinking of it, and it would help to be costume frielndly. The Wife runs Iron Costumer and is a masque judge, and will have her own pieces there as well, hall costumes and such.)

Iron Costumer prep is continuing apace, themes have been sorted and materials are being evaluated and prepped. The Con has generously stepped up and is contributing to asset acquisition and storage, helping ensure the event's success and continuation. It is expected that the event will be held Friday afternoon, sign-ups at the masquerade table to begin Friday morning, team members will get initial organization and broad theme options at sign-up.

The Con has announced a 'policy extension' relating to the semi- sort of not really theme this year. With it being the 28th G1, 28 Days Later emerged as a theme of sorts. Inevitably, some folks will use this as the launch point for costuming/crossover ideas. Which is fine, however (from the con site):

Gallifrey One’s annual theme is usually dictated entirely by whatever pun we can use in the title, and of course using a spin on the film “28 Days Later” inevitably bred a zombie/scary theme. We know a lot of our attendees love cosplay, and are probably very excited to be able to do some zombie cosplay this year, and we don’t want to ruin anyone’s parade. However, our dedication to an enjoyable weekend for ALL of our attendees requires us to state that we will be enforcing the following two policies during the weekend:

  • We will not permit ANY “zombie play,” walking around in “zombie mode” behaving like one (i.e. getting into the full spirit of the cosplay) without regard for the safety, well being and security of other attendees. Anyone cosplaying with the theme should understand that they are still subject to our courtesy policies at all times.
  • As Gallifrey One is a convention with all ages including small children, those who care to cosplay should avoid the use of fake blood or other gory makeup or prosthetics during the daytime hours.
We hope this will accomplish two goals: to ensure the enjoyment of all our attendees, and still allow cosplayers a wide range of options in their trade. Please direct any questions to the convention via our Contact Us page; thanks!

Additional, and the short version: if anyone is stupid enough to include any sort of liquid, fluid, other that transfers from their costume to someone else's over the course of the weekend, be assured they won't make it out alive. Folks put too much damn work and effort and resources into the costumes for some damned fool to come along and decide their moment in the moonlight is more important than respecting others' works...
