Jeff Vandermeer is my favourite contempory author, so really looking forward to seeing what Alex Garland makes of the essentially unfilmable Annihilation. It's a good-looking year, especially after the atrocious roster of 2016. Cautious optimism for BR 2049.

I'm not greatly looking forward to any of these to be honest but I suppose Dunkirk has my attention the most out of these, despite my own feelings about Nolan as a filmmaker. That and Darkest Hour just to round it out because you can't have just a WWI film without a WWII film to round it out.

Okja would probably come second to those for me, just because of Bong Joon-Ho. His filmography is pretty strong. Barking Dogs Never Bite and The Host are good films but Memories of Murder and Mother are seminal films, I think, in not just Korean thrillers but as recent entries of the genre in total. However, Stoker and Snowpiercer really make me cautious. I mean, I liked aspects of both films but I think they really showed the stark contrast between the mentality of Eastern and Western films, in terms of style and handling of subject matter; a culture clash, simply put. Things in both films that I would normally forgive had they been entirely foreign films, differences in culture and some things being lost in translation, were just accentuated by being in a Western setting and it was really jarring. So... cautiously optimistic about this to say the least.

Baby Driver, Life, and Free Fire I'll also give a watch.

Thanks to all who voted in. The current final votes are as follows.

1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 30

2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - 5

3. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Blade Runner 2049, Justice League - 3

After seeing TFA, despite being a diehard SW fan, I have to vote for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I have better hopes for it since the first movie was really good.

The new Planet of the Apes is about the only interesting one on there for me. I still haven't seen Guardians 1 or Force Awakens.

I've given up being excited about anything. I never go to a theater and I buy everything on Bluray. If something comes out that I want to see, I buy it, months after it's out of theaters. There are plenty of things I will be buying, but nothing I really care that much about.

Aside from episode 8, I'm fairly interested in Baby Driver. I've been getting reacquainted with Edgar Wright's films the last few weeks (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, The World's End) and I'm totally interested to see how this one turns out.

Yep, Atomic Blonde wasn't officially announced for this year until earlier last month (just before its debut at SXSW), while this poll was created in January. It is releasing in July and has now been added to the list of 2017 movies at the bottom of the first post.

Also Annihilation has now being pushed to 2018.
