Westworld Costume Thread

I'd love to have a copy of the jacket Hector wears. Good luck finding any of these costumes though, since the costume designer confirmed that every speaking role's costume is custom made. http://www.racked.com/2016/10/27/13408436/westworld-costumes

That's an interesting article.

The fact that all of the outfits are custom made and dyed obviously explains why nobody is having any luck sourcing any of the particular pieces.

If someone ends up making Hector's coat...and for me more importantly...his hat...I'm going to have a hard time not buying them.

Picked up my first piece today . . .

I may be making the hat in the future, I've been making costume and period hats for a few years now and only just started watching the show yesterday after a friend told me there was a hat in it that was right up my street. I'll probably have a go at it in the new year. The hardest part will be finding all the correct stamps for the embossing but i recognise one or two of them ( i think they are from tandy. check out my other hats here: https://www.facebook.com/TheCaptainsQuarters01

I'll be on the lookout for that. It'll be a great piece to have...and I'm not going to lie, I'll wear it everywhere I go!!

Great start there Soul!!! What base did you use for the hat??

My wife and I went to our first ever "real" Halloween gathering this year...it's a local party that is thrown with proceeds going towards one of the local animal shelters. We have a LOT of pets, so it was right up our alley. We didn't have a lot of time to work on getting stuff together this year, so we just got Rey and Kylo costumes...and then I bought a nicer Kylo helmet. However, we were thinking about doing something from Westworld for this next party, and one of the options for the entire theme of the event is "Old West," so that would be sweet.

We are thinking about going in a slightly different direction, though...at first I was thinking basically just create a character and go from there...basically generic hosts if you will...nice old west style clothing and accessories...but then I started thinking...it would be SWEET to put together as screen accurate as possible "clean up tech" costumes...not the ones that Felix and Sylvester wear, but the ones the guys go into the park to clean stuff up wear...the white coveralls with the aprons, the red sleeves, and those sweet biohazard masks with the two flashlights on the side.

These dudes here:

I've figured out the biohazard mask/helmet rig, and the boots look easy enough. The rest of it is pretty straightforward and easy to put together. The suits are just disposable plastic cleanup suits, but I'd end up making a pattern and making them out of an actual cloth, so that they could breathe and not be a sauna when worn for long periods of time.

I think it would be a pretty slick costume that would be recognizable to fans, and if the theme of the party ends up actually being Old West, it will look amazing with a couple of cleanup techs wandering around with all of the "hosts" that don't even know that they're hosts. Good stuff.

Does someone have any idea where I can get a hat like Ed Harris in Westworld, I know they got it from Baron Hats but I'm looking for a cheaper alternative while still being as accurate as possible. Thanks.

I don't think anyone will have a complete hat ready to order as yet and will have to be a custom made job so won't be cheap. I will definitely be having a go at making it soon but I'm a hatter by trade and specialise in leather costume hats. You could buy something thats similar in shape and if it is made from veg tan leather you could hand emboss the details in or find some stamps that match the embossing. The hard part, if buying a ready made hat to alter, will be that both sides of the brim need to be the smooth side of the leather so the under side of the brim can be embossed as most hats will only have the smooth side on the top as thats the more water proof side, the underside will more often be suede. The hat would need a brim made from 2 layers bonded back to back. It will likely be a while before i make on as I've got so much on at the moment but i'm looking forward to getting on to it.

Greetings.

I joined the RPF because of Westworld. I want to make a Maeve in Sweetwater cosplay.
I know it's a saloon girl dress, but she's a bad-ass and I would like to represent her.
I am currently gathering photos and patterns to alter. I hope to come back in here to update on my status or to ask questions.

Anywho... cheers.

working on a man in black costume. all of his costume parts are custom mad down to the material used for his clothes.

for the hat i am using a stetson but steam treated to form it right.

i am having a gun belt rig made for the costume. some pretty crazy parts going on. a cross draw slim jim holster , a standard old west loop style holster to carry a extra barrel and cylinder assembly. then loops for 20 gauge brass shotgun shells. then loops for bullets. then knife sheath . then the buckle and tongue.

here is a link to weapons used in westworld.
