Comic Con Germany 2017 Steam Lantern and Family

So, we (my Girlfriend, Son and I) finally decided what Costumes we want for Comic Con 2017.
We will be there as some kind of Lantern Family. ^^
I make Steam Lantern from Green Lantern: the animated Series.




My Girlfriend as Lady Catherine from the same episode.


Only my Son (12 years) will go a bit off the Road with a Pokemon/Lantern Crossover Costume. XD
Something like this:



I will work on my son´s costume last, its the least work.
My Girlfriend is working on her Costume on her own (but i think i will post some pictures here).
So this time it will be mostly about my Costume. A premiere. ^^

Here is what i have so far.


(for everyone who thinks "why is this mirror so ****ing dirty????" i carried this thing out of the basement, so i have a big enough mirror to make this selfies. ^^)





Right now i am thinking about a method to make the jets and the backpack seperate (for transport) but attach them securely, so they will not break or fall of at the Con.

I think i forgot hundret things but i am drunk as hell, so i will update this post as soon as i am sober. ^^

I think this idea will work to savely disassemble the jetpack for transport.
The Jetpack will be filled with insulation foam, that should hold the threaded rods, the jetengines will be seperate and plugged and screwed on.
Any other ideas?

Thanks man.
Its wasnt that hard. I wraped my head and neck in cellophane and taped it with duct tape.
I drew the lines for the patterns on it, cut them and transfered them to cardboard.
The Earcaps were harder.
I made one out of oilbased clay and molded it.

I slush casted it and drilled many little holes in the rim.
To get the faux leather in over them i vacformed it over the caps and glued it on with contactcement.
After that i just had to glue AND sew them to the piece.

Sooooo, i bought some cheap boots and worked on the "Hardtofindium". ^^

The boots were a bit to light colored, so i "polished" them with a brown acrylic model paint.

Its hard to see, but they are much darker now. ^^

I made the "belt"-thingys out of some material i cut from the boot (they were much to high at first).


I made the Hardtofindium out of a cheap plastik ball, some toy crystals and a selfmade spatula (a mix of babypowder and white glue).
Cut it to shape with a box cutter and made the cracks with a xacto knife.


I made a two part mold and tested some clear epoxy with a green resin color in some old molds i had.

Next i rotocasted it (it was a pain, it took around 10 hours to get hard enough) and painting it at the moment.

There is a cheap battery powerd christmas light chain for the glow.
The batterys and wire will be hidden in a fake pair of giant pliers.

Back to the glove....that thing is starting to annoye me. I sprayed and sanded it 3 ******** times.....because i am stupid. XD

The glove/gauntlet/whatever is finally finished!



The electronics for the Hardtofinfium are also finished, i just have to fit everything in it. ^^

The Hardtofindium is also (really ^^) finished.
It was a pain to glue all the LED´s to the reight spots at the inside. XD
the battery compartment and switch are not very elegant but it works. ^^

The first tries of casting the Green Lantern/Poketrainer Hardlight Pokeball and the soldered LED´s that go into them.



I molded a Pokeball my Son got in the Pokemon Omega Ruby special Edition. It has the perfkt Size for him. ^^

Long time no update but here are some pictures from the oculars on Lady Catherines hat.



I will post some new Pictures of the finished Steamlantern Googles tomorrow.
