Rocketeer costume question

I'm doing a rocketeer costume for Halloween and to wear to conventions. Since I'll have the rocketpack on I won't be able to wear the messenger bag I usually take to put purchases in. I usually am only able to go to cons for one day, and only take one costume. I'm thinking a small leather(ish) hipbag on my left side to balance out the holster on the right side, but I would like the opinions of other fin heads.
