Hasbro clone helmet upgrade

Howdy y'all. Figure this is as good as any place to post this. So over the past few months I've been slowly improving one of those hasbro clone helmets that came out like ten years ago.

Been a mildy fun experience. Not exactly done yet, but still moving slowly.

As you can see not too terribly much more work to be done. Need to dremel in the ears, smooth out the other tower, and just some minor sanding/smoothing here and there.

Nice work. I've been slowly filling in the gaps in mine while working on other projects. What paint scheme are you going to go for, or are you leaving it white?

Oh man the big question. Been trying to figure that out all weekend. Was settled on waxer for a while and was going to use his phase two paint scheme, but sorta went back and forth. Might just find another and do multiple.

So I finally got the correct attachment for my dremel tool and was able to get the ears cut out. They are shallow, but once weathered will be perfect. Still running into an issue with the epoxy putty still not 100% hardening despite being properly mixed. ( Probably went on way to thick.) So I'll put a pin in that for now and probably move onto getting ready for paint.

As for paint I am definitely going to do waxer. However I'm going to go ahead and put numa on it as is with his phase 2 helmet.

Ok so I'm finally wrapping the helmet up. Still need to do some minor sanding. (Still waiting for the putty to harden.) And still need to weather the helmet, but otherwise its about done.
Hope ya guys like it and hopefully this will give hope to anyone else sprucing one of these up that it can be done.

That looks fantastic :)
I've done a similar mod to mine.
These thing float about second hand for peanuts and when the effort is put in the overall look from the front especially, is the same as my efx clone.
Which is nice.

Thank you! Also where have you seen these things second hand on the cheap? With the experience I got from doing this one I wanted to do a couple other clones that I liked. But ebay and amazon are swamped with stupid prices on them. (Like $40+)

Well I'm in the uk,
at car boot sales (don't think you have those in us, think garage sale) they can be bought for anything from a few pounds up. Even at toy fairs they are only £10-£15 or so which is a steal if all the effort to get them looking good is free.

Ah yeah that would make since. I live in a pretty small town, but yards sale do sprout up from time to time.
Guess I gotta keep a more vigilant eye out.

This is a classy job! Having done less brilliantly with my Rex adaptation, I picked up a complete helmet from Value Village ($6.50!) Mrs Dim (my wife) said she'd like to try a steampunk variant, but that was under the influence of Vancouver FanExpo. It's on the list....
