New York Comic Con 2016

wrap some tape round the barrel end then paint it with orange, after security clears it just take the painted tape off, normally they wont bother you once youre in the event since itll already have been "checked" with a ziptie or whatever they use.

Over at Facebook people are going ballistic....too bad ReedPop isn't taking a page from the other major cons and using a bit of common sense with their rules.

It's not actually ReedPop. It's the convention center security that's trying to impose these rules. ReedPop also runs C2E2, ECCC and other large cons and none of those have such a strict prop and cosplay policy as NYCC.

Well, it is a major NYC venue, so you can hardly blame them for being cautious.

Personally, i've decided to stick to what few small cons i can find around here.

the big cons like NYCC are nothing like when they first started. they where actually fun then and you could get into panels. now not so much. and that was three years ago now.

i got a table again this year, but they made it definitely harder to get than previous years. Most likely due to the fact thats its gotten just as good as SDCC and they've upped there game.

That was a question we had, is it the same level as SDCC? SD has a bunch of panels and releases related to major films, NY is almost only TV.

I think they still save their big stuff for SDCC. it's more press and it's more local so the stars who don't like cold weather don't have to leave it.

the crowd level may be the same, but i think the talent they get is either repeating, or hit and miss.

nothing wrong with repeating if it's good though, case in point tom mison(sp)

If anyone wants to say hi, I'm there all four days. Send me a PM and you'll get one free high five from me.

I'll be there tomorrow.

Just look for this BvS armor

Local Stupid radio show brought up NYCC today.

How come you can still look down on nerds, and make fun of them harshly, but no one else? it is 2016 right?

they harped on the 'cosplay is not consent' signs being posted all over the place. I'd argue the people those signs are addressing arn't true nerds. true nerds would be obsessing over the detail of the costume rather than the person in it. but the stupid radio crew went after the 'nerds are single and act horney when 15 harley quinns come after them' angle...

sigh.

Also, their dumb reporter confused a Master Roshi for Fred Flinstone. either the cosplay was REALLY bad, or that kid reporting really is just an idiot.

i second that, this is the problem i have with RICC allowing porn stars into the convention. what the hell do they have to do with comic's?!? it brings in a different crowd.. i witnessed with my own eyes grown men harassing the "nerds". these guys were there for the wrestling divas and the porn stars.. you can tell they couldn't tell you the difference between star wars and star trek

it was pretty upsetting... again early on this summer the site had the porn stars listed again. i have nothing against porn stars, i have a few autographs myself (not from comic conventions)its just comic con is not the place for them I'm sorry... not only does it bring a different crowd. the comic crowd also suffers from the harassment

I will never understand why cons do that. Even Power Con allowed one in, probably because she dressed as She-Ra..but still..

that's an entirely different crowd i would think cons wouldn't want to be associated with.

any pictures of the eFX tables? curious if they had their back to the future stuff out

They had the usual stuff out, nothing new. Got to talk to Gino for a bit and he let me try on the Legend ESB bucket. It's definitely #1 on my most wanted list right now.
