VINTAGE GRAFLEX BLADE HOLDER & FX CHASSIS' ( SOME *** REPLICA'S ONLY*** see below - )

( CHASSIS' by Goth 3 designs)

*** now I want to take a moment and say this. Romans has always delivered the most epic stuff, and it should be noted that just some details of the replicas are off by very little. And that all in all, the replicas he is providing are still stellar in everyway. I applaud Roman for offering to take on such an enormous task, time and again. He is a valuable member of the Community, and in the end the replicas are outstanding, for the FX crowd the deviation in tolerance/fitment to the Vintage is the issue, not the whole of the Replica. This has to be said in a broad perspective, because its true.
.

NOTE *** Romans Current Graflex Replica DEVIATES from the Vintage Specifications, this is Unfortunate.
(
to clarify the confusion, ourblade holders work on his previous Generations and Vintages just fine. At this time no Bladeholder offered on the market works perfectly with the new Romans.
Referring to the Current run as of January 6th 2017. *****

"Nerfworxlab's goal was to make the most accurate, and still FX functional blade adapter possible for Graflex conversions.

We spent a year refining the blade holders in research and prototyping over and over before we ever brought ours to market. We didn't rush out the solution, and we had no knowledge that Romans was going to be this way for the FX crowd, we are just as dismayed as many of you.

The Blade holders are made in the USA, from american made Kaiser aluminum, and Andodized finish, and are the most accurate FX blade adapters for GRAFLEX Conversions. ( utilizing a 7/8ths blade for a more accurate build)

Ok guys, time for me to chime in here.

Basically, this Blade holder was my idea and the design is more or less exactly the way I envisioned it. So if you have any questions I'd be happy to help in any way I can. If anything is wrong, it's my fault.

Going over a few things first.

1. Addressing what Luke brought up about the slider on the flash. This will need to be shaved down as usual. The reason is, there is no way to get any actual blade depth and still use this piece. So it will need to be shaved down and done in the traditional manner should you choose to use the slider as a switch, which is our intention.
2. The glass eyes will be shine though, or not should you wish to block the light from bleeding out.
3. Should you wish to go ESB and use both red buttons as switches you can insert an adapter plate ( Yes, you'll have to make one) and use the existing plunger method like we always use.
4. The set screw that will be used is the flat head above the glass eye on the flash. Yes this is a 4-40, and probably not everyone's most desired method but you guys need to know that accuracy is the name of the game here. We will most likely be providing these screws with the BH. It's a working solution that has been used by myself and Scottjua.
Now, I have used a Glass eye as a blade retention before, which included notching the blade so that it would lock it in place, this is also a possible solution.
5. Vintage/replica bulb holder pieces will be re-used on this flash to get it as accurate as possible. THIS WAS PARAMOUNT IN THE DESIGN.

A couple things to keep in mind. We have been working on this design since LAST FALL when Roman's announced his plan to run replica flashes. Knowing that the community could heavily benefit from an accurate blade holder supplier ( Or maybe just cause I wanted one or ten), I told Aaron that we should look into it. Ryo and I basically hammered out all the details and this is what we got. Now keep in mind no one had ever done a blade holder with the accurate lip, or two piece design at this time.

Measurements are replicated to within .002 of the original vintage bulb adapter. This was a no joke project for us and not something we took lightly. I'll be doing a video for you guys showcasing it using original vintage parts, and installed in a vintage Graflex.

Shane, why does it cost so much? Well, lets take a look at at a standard blade holder. Ours not only has twice the amount of cuts, and material removal, but is also two pieces. The concave bevel on the blade holder, and existing lip are no joke and simple things like those effect the cost dramatically. Let's not even get into where it's made, the only way that a price like this is even possible is because we have Michelangelo over here operating the machines himself and not paying some shop to pay some guy to pay some other guy to operate them.

Notes, The design will allow for a FULL CRYSTAL CORE reveal chassis. We will get into that later. A couple of things though to keep in mind, as this is more of an accessory piece to a saber that we are all already familiar with, I would not expect a full write up on how to install one like Ryo was so kind enough to do with the V2's. That was a little different since we had designed the whole system, and not just a couple components. We will undoubtedly have some great build threads here and are looking forward to seeing them, so we do not think something like this would be necessary. However, a video going over all the features is definitely coming.

Thanks!

Great post. Thank you for going into such detail. Also, I think the price is great considering what it is. I've recently gotten into machining/ metal work and it isn't cheap. Design something similar and get a quote, it's going to be in the $150 to $200+ range unless you know someone. Decent cutters/ end mills are expensive, coolant isn't cheap, machine oil isn't cheap, good calipers and micrometers are insanely expensive. Worst of all all these things are consumables, like toner in a printer. I bought a chamfer bit (just one) last night and I almost cried while entering my payment information. Oh, and then comes labor and the actual machines (lathes, mills, CNC's) again a skilled machinist isn't cheap and neither are the machines.

Sorry rant over, but your price is extremely attractive.

What's the difference between the "Deluxe Edition" you have posted a picture of on Facebook and the one I already ordered?
