Fascinating articles about Matt Jefferies designs and the Golden Ratio.

I've never been particularly sold on the golden ratio. Or, maybe it just wasn't taught to me very well. My first exposure to it was in "Donald in Mathmagicland", where they basically drew a rectangle around many famous works of art, and I was like "well, you can do that to anything."

I only have a passing familiarity with the golden ratio, but if nothing else, the article shows how well-ballanced, thought-out and pleasing to the eye Matt Jeffries original design is. He created an icon of design, recognisable in silhouette from every angle and still a favourite of many.
