Would anyone miss the price is right if cancelled?

I loved / still love The Drew Carey Show and was really happy when he took over for BB. I have to admit I haven't watched a game show in decades. Will it be missed? I think it would.

There was a time when Wheel of Fortune actually had prizes and the contestants could go shopping after winning a round. I wish they would bring that back. That was part of the fun. :)

My sisters just recently went to a taping of the show because they are such huuuuge fans and they did one not too far from us. They'd be crushed if it went off the air.

I think it's fun. Most game shows are just fun fluff. At least they're entertaining, unlike a lot of the reality stuff that's on now.

Oh yeah, I definitely think it'd be missed. I rarely watch it anymore and am not a huge Drew Carey fan but I'll always have a soft spot for TPIR, growing up watching Bob Barker and Rod Roddy.

One of those shows that was only three seasons, but feels like there were thousands of episodes.

That was the thing about life before 24 hour cartoon channels or on-demand TV. There was so little tv out there that you ended up growing up on shows that were 30 years old.

When I was a kid I watched Gilligan, Batman, I love Lucy, star trek and the little rascals. As a kid in the 80's, I didn't realize that they were as old as they were.

What blows me away is that we watched Gilligan's Island, and Brady Bunch in the late 70's or early 80's, and those shows were 10 years old or less.... and we look back as if we were watching something so old. Today, we have reruns of Seinfeld and Friends that are 20 years old. :lol

I think the same. Kids today even see 2002 like it's ancient history. That's like last month to me.

I often think about that and it blows my mind, lol. It has been 44 years since my birth day and kids today cannot fathom that amount of time. I thought the 60'e were old, and things like the following seemed ancient:

1. The 1st US air-conditioned office building opens
2. RCA and GE install three test television sets in homes
3, The 1st radio telephone connection between Netherlands & US
4. Scotch tape 1st marketed by 3-M Company
5. The 1st solo England to Australia flight takes off
6. The 2nd Winter Olympic games open
7. "Amos & Andy" debuts on radio
8. Mickey Mouse made his 1st ever appearance in silent film "Plane Crazy"
9. Velveeta Cheese created by Kraft
10. American aviator Amelia Earhart becomes the 1st woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean
11. Baseball Hall of Famer Ty Cobb got his 4,191th & final career hit
12. Mickey Mouse's screen debut (Steamboat Willie at Colony Theater NYC)

Things these events all have in common? They are from 1928... 44 years before my birth day.

I've done the same math and it's terrifying.

I remember my dad taking me to see classic movie revivals in the theaters - When Worlds Collide, Seventh Voyage of Sinbad ... which were 20 years old when I saw them.
That's exactly like me taking my kids to see the original Star Wars - except Star Wars is 40 years old!!!

That would be like taking them to see:
Babe, Billy Madison, Clueless, The Brady Bunch Movie, Apollo 13, Casino, The Usual Suspects, Too Wong Foo, Seven, Bad Boys, Braveheart, Pocahontas, Batman Forever, Jumanji, Toy Story...
All turned 20 in 2015!!!

TPIR still packs em deep for the studio audience. People are on long waiting lists for tickets via agencies that dont understand they can arrange their own tickets. Its still an advertising cash cow but like most network TV, its days are numbered. Retro come sand goes but when it goes, it goes down harder than 70's porn never dared. The core audience for classic style game shows is nearly 6 feet deep. Once ad revenue starts to tank, the plug will be pulled. Game shows lost footing during the mid 80's when talk shows took over.

There was a time when Wheel of Fortune actually had prizes and the contestants could go shopping after winning a round. I wish they would bring that back. That was part of the fun. :)

Try this. There are kids in high school now who were born after 9/11 -- for whom it's in the same "oh, that's that thing that happened back in history" along with World War II and Rome.

Meanwhile, to answer @NeilT's initial observation. Bob loved TPIR all the way through to the end. He was just winding down, sadly. He made that show what it was, and, in turn, the show was his life and legacy. I'm one who feels they shouldn't have messed with it beyond maybe updating some of the setpieces. The only other ones I've seen with as much staying power are Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. And, as with TPIR, most of that is on the hosts. I don't know either of those will last long once Alex or Pat or Vanna leave those shows, and more than Family Feud was the same after Richard Dawson or TPIR after Bob.

I tried to watch two breaks of price today.

I just couldn't get past more than two.

Drew is so akward on camera. maybe not jimmy fallon akward, but awkward. he has halting sentences...he barely says anything other than 'I'm sorry you lost'...

i'm AMAZED the show is still even on. the man can't host.

compared to the greats of the past? you better believe I did!

I can't watch him. his energy is too nervous, and his fandom makes him come off as weird at times.

I think Fallon is the best thing to come along to late night in a long time. I absolutely detest Conan, have never liked him.

However, since I am now old, I only catch the stuff on Youtube. Can't hardly remember the last time I was up past 10pm.

I agree.... That nervousness is his "act". He is one of the best hosts in a loooong time.

I wouldn't miss any game show if they all vanished. I haven't watched one in probably 35 years. I had a friend who was hooked on the Game Channel Network, she had it on all the time, I never saw the attraction.
