Dark Souls - Silver Knight

Still waiting for bits and pieces, so I figured I'd draw up a template document on Photoshop for the sword with the poor quality reference images I have of it. There are carvings around the cross guard, but they are a bit hard to make out in the images I have, so I'll probably do something similar to the collar or shield on there.
It's probably not the best template, and I'm sure that it isn't 100% accurate to the game sword, but I don't mind. If anyone wants a copy just PM me about it.

Might even try forging it from steel some day.

After much thinking and template making I finally figured out how to get the pauldrons to be the right shape.

I stacked the cuirass pieces up on my computer chair to see how it all looked.
On to the shins and boots next.

Latest progress is looking really good. The lines in the pauldrons look great also, really crisp.

More that I see of those hands also the more I look forward to trying out your technique.

Thank you, when you do create yours, make sure everything is sewn together well or it will try to take itself apart when you make a fist.
I've also been adding a thin foam lining to them which makes them a bit more comfortable, definitely recommend this.

Lately I've been working on the boots, but I'll be buying some chainmail materials over the next week or so should be fun :)

I'll keep that in mind when I get to it. Cheers for the tip.

How goes the current progress?

How goes the current progress?

It's actually going really well, I'll post some pictures tomorrow, I anticipate the weather here should produce the perfect lighting for it.
The helmet is finished with the final paint job, and everything from the waist up is partially painted and sealed. I've made progress with some of the more tedious tasks as well, like weaving the chainmail and sewing into the boots.

This looks amazing. How did you form the pauldrons? Are they just heat formed?

Thanks, the ridges were made by making a small channel on the underside of the foam and gluing it together but getting it into the right shape as well as achieving symmetry involved considerable heat forming and wrestling with the foam.

Alright guys, there are going to be quite a few photos over the next couple of hours.
Firstly the arms have been sealed with black plastidip and have had their first coat of drybrushed silver paint, looks nice, but they aren't anywhere near finished.

The helmet is finished and painted, so that will give you an indication of the final look of the rest of the pieces.

Shield has had the same coats as the arms, except the interior which used brown for the wood and leather. It still needs a few different coats.

Chest has also had the first coat, same as the other parts. I made a PVC hook on the back of the collar so I can put my shield on my back instead of carrying it around all day at a convention, so that should be nice.

And here is the chainmail I have been working on, it's slowly coming together. It's made from 10mm stainless steel rings woven in a butted four in one weave.

The boots are taking ages as I have to hand sew everything together, but they'll be nice and sturdy once I'm done. I've also put a ring on the left tasset so I can sheath the sword whenever I want. The leg and waist armour has had no paint or sealing.

BONUS PICTURE:
A good friend of mine had his birthday recently and he is into the Mass Effect series so I whipped up a M-77 Paladin as a present.

And that concludes the photo dump for now, I'm hoping to finish the sewing on those boots soon enough, but it is extremely tedious.

I finally finished sewing together all the parts of the boots so I could glue the plating on, now both legs are sealed and are ready for paint.

The shield and all the plating from the waist up is now finished and fully painted. I wanted it to look like old steel so I drybrushed silver onto the black plastidip coat, then I made a sort of metallic rust colour and splotched it all over everything using some pieces of a towel. After that I did a second drybrush of silver and used a bright aluminium paint to highlight edges, all the paint is acrylic. The chainmail is also coming along nicely

All of the armour is done now, so I've moved on to carving the sword out of some EVA foam blocks. I haven't taken any photos of everything being worn at once, but I have one from just before completion. I'll probably take a bunch of pictures over the next couple of weeks.

The chainmail skirt is also finished, all stainless steel and shiny.

Looking great, I love the details on the shield and entire chest, how exactly did you do them? Just cut with a knife and heated open, dremel bit or was it a heat knife? Can't wait to see the whole thing in action.

Just wanted to jump in and say, very nice work. The layers and detail you got on the foam chest piece really sells it.

Thanks :) getting all the layers of the chest glued together while still keeping them mobile was pretty difficult but it all worked out in the end.

Most of the carvings, detail lines and little channels were just cut and heated open, some of the larger channels like in the shield were bevel cut out from the foam using a knife.

The sword is really coming along now. I'm at the priming and sanding stage with it, trying to get some of the imperfections out of it before painting.
I've also added some extra details on the hilt for extra sun praising power.

The sword is finished and is quite solid and durable. The majority of it is made from solid EVA foam, the handle is PVC pipe filled with a hardened sealant. The blade has a wooden support structure running from the tip to the pommel and the cross guard has wooden internal supports too. On top of everything it has generous coatings of plastidip.
This means that everything is pretty much done, just need to get some decent full body pictures sorted out.

Wow I haven't been on here for a while, and I completely forgot to post any completed pictures.
I went to convention, Brisbane Supanova 2016, in the armour, and it seriously couldn't have performed any better. I had an absolutely epic time, there were a few other Dark Souls cosplayers there, but not many.
I don't actually have many decent pictures of myself, but other people took heaps.

Pretty sure this is the first Silver Knight suit that anyone has made, or at least the first I've ever seen, If I'm wrong feel free to correct me. I've only ever seen Black Knights.
Well I'd say this project is all wrapped up, I'll definitely maintain the suit and wear it to more events, it was too cool :D
