Hi, i'm going for 100% screen accuracy for this costume!

Already ordered the vest and a real b-7 goggle to go with the helmet.

here is my M1 US style helmet wich will be converted to a M1c with a chinstrap

I'm considering doing this version of the Cap for Halloween this year.

Let me know if you need any HD screencaps or auction pics.

Good luck, Captain!

Oops saw that, but the chinstrap, or what you called it is not the correct definition. The US military called it the M1 chin cup, rather than a chin strap which was the common strap like the one used by ground troops ( the original strap in your photos ) that would be replaced to a cup, for paratroopers

I said that in first post. ;) It hasn't arrived yet.

Also update. Today my screen acurate vest arrived!
I'll need to scuff it up and get rid of the leather oil on the vest. Still looks too new!

My webbing arrived! Found out that the sidesling on the torso is actually a Garand sling with 2 compass pouches on it. Why he would need 2 compasses goes beyong me.
Also converted my m1 to a m1c helmet. Added the right V shaped straps and chincup.

Everything looks to brand new. i'll need to find a way to make it all worn/weathered.

Hey! Hope you don't mind me asking but I have been searching for a Cap Jacket! Where did you manage to find yours?

I'm a bit scared by the Cheaper options that lurk around

From here ;)

The rest of my parts arrived!
I now have a reinforced paratrooper pants, gaitors and paratrooper shoes :)

All I have to do now is weather the costume and make a metal shield.
And hang the sidesling horizontally mirrored. Didn't noticed i was wearing it wrong.

You look good!

Though it appears the Cap has only one tie around the pants pocket, just on the pistol side. It mostly covers the pistol holster tie as well.

Got paid today, so I bought a jacket from the guy you recommended. I may get an Indy jacket from him in the future, as well.

I've been buying bits & pieces from eBay & Amazon over the past few weeks. Played with the leggings today, and they are a hassle. It's a wonder we won the war at all with those. Mine are cheap Chinese versions that were made wrong; missing an eyelet and with the buckles done wrong. I think I've got 'em working OK now, had to go at 'em with pliers and a screwdriver.

Leggings? Gaitors you mean? Yea they are a pain to put on. Heck even the shoes are hard to get on xD

This is absolutely awesome!! A few questions and remarks I have. First how did you do the helmet? Did you paint it yourself and if so what paint did you use? Second where did you get the pants? Are they paratrooper pants? Lastly you need the Star shirt under the jacket. I'm sure you already know that;-)

Yes, Rogers wears a pair of US paratrooper trousers for this costume. You're looking for the two-tone (reinforced?) kind for this, if you want to be most accurate. They can be found on eBay, and at WWII reenactment web stores.

I got a close (enough for me) t-shirt with the Cap's original uniform pattern. It's sewn together out of multiple pieces of red, white & blue fabric, so it looks more like the USO show suit than something only screenprinted on one side. The downsides to it are the colors (navy blue instead of royal blue, though it's hard to tell exactly how dark Rogers' show suit is), and the fact that it's not an exact replica of the the USO show suit (the chest is patterned slightly differently, the star isn't embroidered, no star on the back, no white long sleeves, etc). Still, I thought it was quite a good option for the price.

I'm working on this one myself. I've collected just about everything but the shield

Now the fun part, weathering and dirtying it all up!

First i primered it.
Then base coat blue.
Then taped off the helmet exept for the "A". And base coated the white.
Afterwards i blackwashed it and scratched it a bit.
Then sealed it all with a matte clearcoat.

Only an inner helmet? not gonna get a outer metal helmet for it?

I still need to get the knife though. Can't let that come through the mail sadly. I'll have to buy it at a WWII event.
