A bit easier to see now.

My finished costume![/QUOTE]

I would like a close-up of the shirt at the neck so that the trim shows up really well. Also a close-up of the round "belt buckle" would be great. I am trying to work out if it is turned from a piece of timber and then reinforced with some sort of metal.

Finally a close-up of where the seams on the back of the cape meet the "roundel" that sits on the left shoulder would be great as well.

Oh man, I am so sorry for not getting these up sooner. Sometimes life gets in the way.

Just with the iPhone again, but hopefully more detail on those areas you wanted. As for the circular belt buckle thing, it looked like metal through-and-through in person.

Thought I would just post some pics of the Dr. Strange I just built for a client. This costume is a basic design, but be warned...the detail is insane. Since I've already made it, if anyone has any questions, just let me know. It always helps to talk to someone who's already made all the mistakes...LOL. Thanks!

Looks amazing!

Yeah, I have a question or two. 1) How did you do the swirly design on the upper back and on the collar? 2) Did you use the embossing technique on the cape trip? 3) How did you get the insane light blue detail on the front of the tunic?

All for now!

Hi Mark,

Here are the answers to your three questions: 1) The swirly design on the collar and yoke is called Soutashe. It is a hand-stitched technique using cording or beading that allows the stitcher to apply a very detailed “coral” effect on fabric. I used a satin cording instead of the leather cording used in the movie. If you want more details, you can google it for a sample or YouTube it to see how it’s done. 2) I did not use an embossing technique on the trim. It is actual fabric appliques and hand embroidery. A little more time consuming, but worth it. 3) The insane light-blue detail on the tunic was stitched using a machine, in a specific “X” design. I started with a darker blue, sewing a couple of rows, then I did rows of dark turquoise, then rows of light turquoise, and then a light blue. I also distressed it with a medium blue wash to tone down the light blue and give it a more aged look.

I hope this helps. I’ve been doing this for a long time and some of these techniques are very difficult to master, so don’t get discouraged and give it a shot. :)

If anyone has seen the film, do we know what the gloves are he wears in the after credit scene? They almost looked like falconer gloves in my opinion.

Sooo many things got in the way of me finishing my suit for tonight's viewing with my family and a bunch of other superheros that I do charity events with. I threw together a super inaccurate belt and arm wraps just to hold stuff down and I left out the pleating on the bottom (I'll add them tomorrow~ish). I'm super glad that I got most of the tunic's "build" correct 2 days ago since I didn't have any back pictures. After watching the movie (OMG watch it!!!) I'm super glad of the decisions I made when I was making the pattern. I didnt have time to make my Crepe Wool mustache/beard, so I used my mom's mascara, lol.

I did my hair, literally as I was walking out the door. Tossed in some hair gel and grabbed a brush. Thankfully my hair grows very similarly Benedict Cumberbatch's :D

My brother used my TASM2 costume and my other brother used the Punisher costume we made.

I saw it on Monday. They are falconry gloves. :)

I brushed a layer of gold (fake) powder onto the molds of the "Eye ball" and the necklace piece itself. The "Eye Ball" is cast out of clear plastic, then black washed to bring out the details. Since the eye ball is clear, and the layer of gold powder is thin, the LED I'm using is more powerful than the reflective ability of the metallic powder, which allows it to be bright glowing green when on, and "solid" gold when off.

I have no idea if this effect is possible while using paint. If you were to lightly spritz the piece (it MUST be clear) then I think it might be possible.

Has anyone by chance "accidentally" taken a picture of the cape during the movie? ;)

I'm still working on my cape and I want it to get as accurate as possible.

I'd take Disney's employee costumes as being accurate to the movies with a grain of salt.

Still a pretty cool design!

For a second, I thought that was my Eye of Agamotto, :D
