Re: Omel's Chewbacca WIP- Budget build as usual

Wookiee approved and subscribed! I really enjoy budget builds. A couple things I was curious about... what are you planning to put on the inside of the mask? (certainly not leave it aluminum foil, right?) You may want to poke some ear holes for better hearing. Lastly, care to divulge your hair source? Great work, Omel!

Re: Omel's Chewbacca WIP- Budget build as usual

@Holy Wookie - Oh ..the inside of the mask has also been duct taped over, noted on the ear holes...hmmm..that thought hasnt crossed my mind, my Vader limits my hearing as well, thanks! shall take photos of the hair extension..it has no labels but i dont think its kanekalon ( but color coded similarly)..its surprisingly straight and looks real, purchased 10 packs locally for testing purposes from a place here in Manila called "Divisoria" at about 3$ ( 150 Pesos) each, approximation would suggest i will need about 60 - 70 pieces, but if i order by bulk will probably get it down (hopefully my haggling skills are up to the challenge) to about 2$ each.

Re: Omel's Chewbacca WIP- Budget build as usual

the other foot...

and then there were two...

testing for comfort, ease of use, balance and stability...oh and of course to see how tall it makes me...

the hair extensions i found...

the facemask as of today...some more refinements needed..need to widen the forehead...he looks like Ki Adi Mundi...haha

thanks for looking..comments and suggestions appreciated. - Omel

still sourcing the net mesh...meanwhile...

aluminum baking tray becomes ...

lip is made out of illustration board covered in aluminum tape...

checking out against a belt...5 done , 5 to go...and then 9 of the other sized boxes...

against a brown bag that will be modded to become the satchel....

Re: Omel's Chewbacca WIP- Budget build as usual

the mesh i found...

pattern for facial hair attachment...

started glueing ( contact/rubber cement) hair to the roof of the foot, its a learning process....upper portion will be covered with mesh for latching...one begins to realize the tremendous amount of patience this project will require..;)

I'm amazed. You're doing great. The only question I have.... How do you lengthen your arms so you look in proportion?

Re: Omel's Chewbacca WIP- Budget build ;)

@taz - the mesh sleeves will extend past my hands, specifically behind the hands, so when the hair is latched it will give the illusion that your arms are longer when hung at the sides, but when moving them about it isnt so obvious, awesome Chewie builds over at the rebel legion are great reference, i am just employing different methods/materials so i can stick to my budget scheme. ;)

worked on adding more hair, color looks dark when viewed from above but light when viewed from the sides...

Re: Omel's Chewbacca WIP- Budget build ;)

Can you post a video of you walking in the stilts? The feet look ridged. That could make moving really difficult. Also the muzzle of the face needs to protrude more. The face is too flat in profile view.

Re: Omel's Chewbacca WIP- Budget build ;)

Thanks for the comment and suggestion, shall try to take a video while walking, the part of the foot that extends beyond the plastic bin flexes a little. will also extend the muzzle a bit more.

Re: Omel's Chewbacca WIP- Budget build ;)

Hey. What happened with this project? I'm looking for inspiration to do a mask and your method is looking like a good option.

Re: Omel's Chewbacca WIP- Budget build ;)

Hi guys, sorry for late response. This build has been put on the backburner while I am updating my vader to be 501st acceptable. But I still work on it from time to time, the muzzle and nose bridge has been adjusted as recommended by kind members and currently I am doing the bandolier, will post progress pics soon. ;)

its not the most accurate Bando around ...but for the budget...its quite ok ( Hehehe)... will still attach small roofing rivet heads to the lid/lip....then unto the pouch/satchel...hopefully after i've done that will still be motivated to attaching hair then making the suit.....;)

Looks good to me! Very timely as I'm probably going to start on my bandolier very soon.

this build has been on the backburner too long...needed motivation to work on it again....soooo......started on a Budget Bowcaster ( made a separate thread http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=274486 ), not as tedious as attaching hair, nyahahaha...hopefully when i finish it .......it kickstarts me to work on the suit again...

Have been wondering when this would kick back up. You should probably add a link here so others can find that thread easier.
