Finemolds 1/72 scale Slave 1 *reference pics needed!*

Hey everyone,

I have just got a Finemolds 1/72 scale Slave 1 Jango style, and am super excited to get it built! However, since I am stubborn and I like the asymmetry and color of Boba's Slave 1 better, I am planning on converting it. However from what I have read here, there is quite a bit of tweaking to get this done right. Basically I was wondering if anyone had photos they might possibly share (in private or public) of the screen-used model that would help me get the details right, and also advice choosing some good paints. I know there are a number of threads already created on this topic, but many of the sources mentioned seem to no longer exist. Thanks for your help!

Also note, if using the movie as reference, ignore this scene. It is a matte painting that was flipped and this should actually be reversed to match the filming model

As Blake said this image is flipped,...but it is very useful for you as the studio model has lost a part which can be seen on this image

This is how the studio model looks now,....with the missing piece:
missingpart.jpg

the other side shows a completely different shape (the Jango Fett Slave 1 has this same shape on either side as does the old AMT kit of Boba's from 1980 onwards)

The still from the film flipped back:

This is a nicely painted FM Boba version of the kit showing the missing parts on the Jango kit

Unfortunately it seems that website is currently (hopefully temporarily) unavailable. :( Anyone have any pics personally saved or anything?

Yeah I saw your thread before, it was looking great! Unfortunately the pics you posted aren't showing up.

Huh, didn't realize that! Thanks for the tip. I've found a book called "The making of Star Wars, the empire strikes back : the definitive story / J. W. Rinzler" which from what I know will contain pictures of Slave 1. I'll let you folks know once I pick it up from the library. Still if anyone else has anything to contribute that would be much appreciated.

Weird...when I click (or left click to open in a new tab) is says the link is invalid. Ah well I'll get my book soon so hopefully I should be set.

What paints are you thinking of using?

I thought I had some somewhere. Think they might be on the old PC. Found this one on old disk, small and not clear, but it may give you something.

J, as you see above in the quote, the images are showing as links, which when followed return a '404 Not found' error. Your original post doesn't even show the links, just blank lines. I suspect there is a permissions issue with the image host that won't or doesn't allow for external linkage or anonymous 'login' so the images are essentially blocked except for those that may already have permission to access those hosts. I've seen this with some Tumbler hosted images as well.

Regards, Robert

...strange??......ah well

I've moved some of the images from imageshack to photobucket
