Crackerjazz' Bandai 1/144 TFA Falcon

Hello

Thats a great build review and will be an evern bigger help once my Bandai gets here! I especially like the way of putting the battle damage on...down to the latest detail. One question from a novice falconier though...the damage was done between ANH and ROTJ ... but the Bandai Falcon is the TFA version with the new "radar" dish. In the 32 years that have passed the damage might have been repaired..while other damage might have happened, also the paint job might be slightly better/worse depending on how much TLC the "owners" had put into the ship since. I know you are replicating the actual TFA movie model...just saying! Once mine gets here I plan on altering mine (slightly) to look like I think the Falcon in the year 32 after the ROTJ could look like...;-)

cheers
Uwe

A nice image of the back of the dish at last

So that's it? No other grill in front of it? How did you get those clean curve cut?

Crackerjazz your exhaust vents is incredible, Is that the official design of the Rear Grilles now for the falcon?

I hope Tony of 308bits sees this and make a 3D part like this and save us time. Awesome scratchbuild!

It's hard to say at the minute,....the Lunch Bay falcon seems to be a 3d printed model from the digital asset,...(Although the blastmarks seem to be even more exaggerated on this version,....even more that how it looks on stills & promo images of TFA asset)

I had a look at the engine details of my sons Battlefront engines,....theres a stage in the game where you can freeze the model & rotate to inspect it,...they seem to be the same as the Bandai kit.....the solid option,...not the blue transparent one....& behind the grille,.....so again the same asset at that stage

Hi, Pinousse, edge10, Scoob, thanks! I just used a round file for the curved part, Scoob. Hi JPCOdessa, Jaitea, if this early promo trailer scene with the Ties was used in the movie then it's the same as the Launch Bay falcon. Will finally see the movie with the family tonight, yipee!! I'll zoom in on the Falcon and see if they did a mishmash of the ship at various stages of development.

JPCOdessa, I could upload it to shapeways, just tweaking some measurements, although I think it will need an additional grille (preferably photoetch because they're thinner than the Bandai ones -- if you want to model the movie version). It does look better with the outer grilles if you want to display it lit. Unlit without outer grilles it's just a Launch Bay falcon :)

Enjoy the movie CJ,....I went again yesterday with my son & it was still a pretty packed cinema,....brilliant,....noticed more wee things,....like what astro had mentioned about the top turret sitting at a two o'clock position whilst the bottom one was at an 8 or 9 position just at the end of the film as the Falcon takes off

Yep CJ your engines look beautiful....its funny about that image being an early one,...that SteveStarkiller noticed that that red panel over beside the access pit was never red before on the 5 footer,.....& in the other teasers & trailers it is grey (as it is supposed to be).....in the finished film they left it red just in that quick scene,....didnt fix it
