Kilgrave Cosplay WIP - Jessica Jones (David Tennant)

I decided to try to beef up my pocket square a bit today. After staring at this photo for a while, I decided that the design is some type of sun or star shaped dotted pattern.

So, I went and got a couple of fine-point fabric pens and decided to give mine a go.

I quickly realized that free-hand drawing with a fabric pen is a lot more difficult than I had imagined [emoji23] My spacing and even-ness is definitely lacking, but all in all, I think it came out pretty good. Here are some progress pics!

Today was a great day! Got two new items in the mail - both for the 1,000 Cuts / Take a Bloody Number variant! First, an alt pocket square. It's the closest I've found so far, and I like it! Definitely looks the part.

Next, and more importantly, the screen-accurate Ted Baker waistcoat!!! Big thanks to my friend John from Cosplay Craziness for helping me acquire this!

This thing is GORGEOUS. Little buts of damson woven into the gray herringbone, an incredible silk lining, contrasting buttons, and puckered stitching. The quality is nothing short of incredible.

And finally, here's a little comparison shot!

Wow, looks amazing Matt. Just a quick update from me, I emailed Stephanie Maslansky via her website asking for details about the pocket square and she replied asking for a close up of it, which I sent her. If/when she replies to my last message I'll post an update. Here's my effort for the variant, even found some purple laces ;)12748134_1553040311677509_1214670827391236195_o.jpg1502640_1553040378344169_1901339235206044229_o.jpg

Looks fantastic!! I think I saw a pic of you earlier today on Domgm's IG! That's a really nice alt vest, too. Where'd you get the suit? The pic I saw on IG looked like it has the pucker stitch on the lapels - I was wondering if you snagged a Paul Smith!

Thanks Matt, really means a lot :D
The suit isn't a Paul Smith, got it from House of Fraser when I picked up the Paul Smith shirt. It's a Aston & Gunn Armitage Purple Mohair Suit www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Aston+Gunn+Armitage+purple+mohair+suit/D632682,default,pd.html and the vest was from Debenhams Red Herring Grey wool blend herringbone waistcoat www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_099010669145_-1

Wow, that is a FANTASTIC alt suit at a great price!! I love that it even has the puckered stitching on the lapels. What a terrific find! Very nice that it's mohair too - my PS suit is a wool/mohair blend, so I'd bet the fabrics look very similar side-by-side.

That suit looks wonderful! Thanks for the link... I went ahead and ordered one :) I should get it in a few days... but I'm impatient and must know what the fit is like! I have a strange body shape and ordered a 40s, and am now crossing my fingers that it all fits. Otherwise, I'm going to have to go to the gym a bit more often... lol.

Thanks again for sharing!

Just a little update folks - I managed to score the very last Paul Smith navy floral shirt from Jonathan Trumbull's website!! It was a size 17.5 (I wear a 15.5), so I had to take it to a local tailor and have a vertical seam done down the back to adjust the collar and torso - but it's almost invisible, and the shirt now fits great! It looks SO much better than my first alt shirt - I think my police station variant is now complete! :D

I love the attention to detail you've put into this is, it really looks phenomenal. I don't think anyone's mentioned Kilgrave's shoes yet but for the record they've been ID'd here:

https://thetake.com/product/113591/...ste-henri-oxford-shoes-jessica-jones-season-1

Thank you!!

As for those shoes you linked, TheTake has them listed as a close match rather than exact. It's really tough to make out his shoes in most of the show, although we do have an ID on the ones he wore with the blue Burberry overcoat (Paul Smith Aldrich suede brogues). [emoji5]

My bad, I misread the article.

So something very exciting happened this past weekend...

0676d55d7155fe81b327d9b0c6184deb.jpg

I GOT TO MEET DAVID TENNANT AND MATT SMITH!!

I attended Wizard World NYC - The Doctors, which was basically a photo/autograph session with those two. I was excited to finally get to debut my Kilgrave police station outfit too!

Not only were both David and Matt extremely nice and pleasant to talk to, but DAVID COMPLIMENTED MY OUTFIT! [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

When we walked in for photos, he said "NIICE outfit!" and then when chatting during autographs, my fiancé said something to him about how I try to emulate his style/fashion. He responded with "well I wish I could take credit for the Kilgrave style, but it's looking GOOD!"

I can't tell you how happy it made me to not only meet these two lovely people and get the chance to have a photo and a short chat with them, but the fact that David commented on my cosplay made it even better! What a great moment!

That is so cool Matt, seriously happy for you :)
I was at the Wizard World con at St Louis and met David, Matt and Billie and they were so nice in person. I was in my blue suit tenth Doctor cosplay and David said that the look suited me and I looked great. Managed to get a photo with Mike Colter when I was doing my Kilgrave cosplay which got a great reaction from him too.

Speaking of which, Stepahnie Maslansky got back to me with regard the pocket square from AKA 1000 cuts to which she is "98% certain it's Paul Smith". I've had a look but can't seem to find anything but at this point I'm happy with my alt.

Quick update folks! One of my Youtube subscribers identified the pocket square from the police station scene!

It's the Sunshine Print Silk Pocket Square in blue by (surprise) Paul Smith:

Also, Indy released his replica of the Varvatos tie - and judging by the photo, it's basically perfection:

Funnily enough I was just about to release my handkerchief design on Spoonflower but having that picture has allowed me to make it more accurate. Here's my updated design (the picture here is low resolution but the actual design is much clearer):

Link in case anyone wants one:

Here's a picture of the test swatch I received. I've kept the colours the same as this one but changed the number and length of the rays as well as the sun spacing.
