Please know that it is not intended to be the final word on what is right or wrong.

I personally thank all those who share information not only in building but those who create aftermarket parts, links with information and more.

    Photo etch from Paragrafix...

A look at some of the aftermarket parts that we have as of 01/26/2017.

    More are on the way
Note: we did not buy this all at once. We have been collecting them over the last two years.

    Nice job so far!

Micromark has some Valejo paints made for them called Microlux that are matched to Polly Scale Railroad colors. They have a color matched to PollyScale Rust. I haven't seen it in person but it might be a match. I know that Testors Model Master Acryl Rust is too red and not a match at all to PollyScale Rust which is more of an earth tone.

This is great, I just scored kits 1 - 6 on eBay at a discounted price and have kit 7 coming soon. I will be watching because I also want those Paragrafix cockpit parts. Looking forward to more.

Do you have to solder the Paragrafix cockpit parts, or is there another way to assemble? Just wondering because I don't have a ton of experience at soldering outside simple LEDs and switches.

There is no need to solder superglue (cyanoacrylate) does the job fine, that's how I assembled mine and it's solid.

    UPDATE 01/31/17
    RAMP will be redone!

Made some progress on the ramp.
Tamiya grey surface primer then Floquil "Grime".
Ramp (where one would walk) was primed black then I used Model Master Acrylic paint color "Grimy Black Flat".
Tamiya weathering kits and 502 MIG weathering oils were also used.

Don't run to the nearest store...
Trains & Lanes Hobbies in Easton PA has a lot of Floquil and Polly Scale paints in stock. The price is 5.99 a bottle plus tax.
They only have Floquil Primer in stock. All other colors 'used' for the falcon are sold out. I looked really hard for them.
However, They do have Reefer Yellow, Concrete, Reefer Grey and Caboose Red in Polly Scale.
Again, they also have a lot of other colors available in both Floquil and Polly Scale.

    My score as of 1/28/16
Not shown: they all mixed up perfectly using my paint shaker.

    My current Floquil paint set.
Waiting for two bottles of Engine black to arrive from online purchase.

Not a huge update/progress report but a step in the right direction.
These are untouched and unpainted parts. They will be primed as soon as the weather gets warmer (a few months away)

Those on the east coast USA know what happened only a week ago. For those who don't know, we received 29" of snow in 24 hours. We started with Zero inches of snow on the ground!

    8 am 1/23/16
Looked out the window and watched our neighbor get his truck stuck in our yard destroying at least 3 trees.

Late afternoon 1/23/16 I took this photo and sent it to dlbsyst just after speaking to him on the phone.
It was extremely windy as well, hence the drifts of snow and some roofs not having any snow while others looked like waves on the beach.

Sunday 1/24/16 the aftermath of the storm. Here you can see that we are almost half way finished getting our cars dug out.

Sunday 1/24/16 and a punishing six hours of shoveling we are finally free!

It took the city of Reading two more days to be back to 'normal'.

I know it has been discussed to death but...
I recently noticed that the newer Floquil grime bottles are, in fact, a lot lighter in color than the original released grime. This was noticed when I received two “old stock” bottles of grime and then compared them to the grime I already have. This may be why it was thought that concrete was used and not grime on the original model.

The "new stock" of grime that I have in my collection is from three different sources. So this would lead me to believe that all "new stock" of grime is the same as what I have. Obtaining the older stock may be a great challenge if not impossible. I am unsure of what I will be doing at this time.

X-Wing commission builds are finished and delivered. I am tinkering on my SS X-WING kit as the falcon build is on standby. I want to wait until everything has arrived (issue 100) before I continue this awesome build.

As some of you know, my wife Kristine is fighting cancer again. There is no cure (yet) but it is treatable. She is fighting it with everything we can throw at it. She is doing GREAT and we thank everyone for all of the thoughts and prayers that have been sent her way. If you do not hear from me please do not think I am ignoring you. Kris is my utmost priority and always will be.

Please continue with all the great model builds as I lurk, watch and enjoy seeing all the great builds you are all doing.

Here is a photo of Kristine and I (on her very first true vacation) at WOODY'S BBQ on Chincoteague Island August 2016.

I will often pray for members along with many others and mention it, etc. but I thought I would try typing it out.

Bare with me, I have never done this on a forum:

Dear Lord, please look after Kristine and see her though this difficult time. She must be an amazing woman with great taste to be with such a Star Wars fan. She must also be incredibly tolerant to put up with all that that means. You know how we drive our spouses crazy with our hobby. Please ease her pain and let her feel your presence in this difficult time. When her time to come home arrives it needs to be as a very old women asleep in her bed. Thank you Father.

    Amen

Before talking about your project, id like to say im sorry for what's happening with your wife. I wish her a speedy recovery.

You mentioned trains and lanes in easton a few months ago. That has to be one of the greatest shops on the east coast. I was there in dec and it has changed quite a bit in the last 25 years, but its still awesome. Im new to modeling so bare with me if i ask a dumb question. The falcon you're building is a kit? What will the finished dimensions be? Ive been looking to build one but have no ide where to start. Thanks
