Captain America Armor WIP

Hey all first post here, and first time trying my hand at Foam. So for Halloween my daugter decided she wanted to be Spidey (albeit pink I'll still take it) , after some deliberation my wife and I decided to go an avengers route. While looking for a good Costume I came across @SMP Designs awesome build and used that as inspiration, you can find it here;

First I grabbed some foam from Walmart the big squares you find in the fitness section ,and some craft foam for details.
Then I measured my chest and free handed a template for front , back and sides. After cutting I taped it all together to test fit.

Then I glued and primed cut the abs and the detail parts at this point i was experimenting with how to do stripes.

For the shirt I found a slightly shiny navy blue long sleeve work out shirt , for the stripes I went to Micahels and got cloth ribbon and iron on adhesive (I don't have a sewing machine or skills).

I glued chest details on, plati dipped(rushed it too much and it got sloppy) I painted it all with a Rostoleum navy Blue, then taped off the blue and sprayer metalic silver and it had this weird effect causing cracking in the paint.

I decided I was running out of time , so instead of redoing the prime and paint of details I used black acrylic to add battle damage/ weathering.
Heres a suit up so far.

I'll need to do something about the shoulder pad it kept falling. Let me know what you guys think.
I still need to do the harness , utility belt , arm braces, and boot /shin covers. :facepalm fingers crossed.

I think that looks really cool! Was glad to see you just went with the weathered look instead of trying to "fix" that cracking, it looks good from here! Liking the design so far ...

So last night I was able to grind out the rest of the costume.

As an added bonus I was able to crank out my wife's Thor headdress and Hammer.

Probably won't suit up till Friday. Let me know what you guys think, I learned a lot from this first build, hopefully the next project will show.
