SirCharles77's Hasbro Millennium Falcon Conversion - COMPLETED!!!

Excellent job. I built the dumpy Revell Falcon a few years ago. When weathering I almost exclusively used pastels. My first time with them. I opted for them for a similar reason to you, the traditional wash techniques seem to over darken light base colours quickly.
A suggestion for your screw holes in the lower part of the model. Try obtaining some closed cell neoprene cord of the appropriate diameter. Cut with a sharp scalpel should give a clean finish. You can then jam the little foam bungs into the screw holes and paint over them. They will be easy to pull out if you need to.
Personally, I wouldn't bother, it looks superb anyway:thumbsup

That neoprene cord sounds like weatherstripping as available through a local hardware or DIY store.

For Sir, as always top shelf work!

Yes, it is used for hatch and window seals on boats. Only available from specialist marine chandlers here in the UK. Always impressed with what is available from the 'local' US hardware stores!

Well I thought I was done with the Falcon but then I noticed something. Pretty obvious...not sure how I missed it from the beginning but I left off these little bars on the cockpit. So here they are!

I do still plan to plug some of the screw holes in the bottom but other than that I am officially DONE with her now! For realz this time!

That being said, I am in the process of making my Death Star Tile Base for her so when I get that done I will post more pics of it. Not sure how long thats gonna take though. Hopefully not long as I need to wrap it up so I can start on my Deagostini Falcon!!

Thought you might all like this. I am cleaning up my work space to make room for the next project. The DeAgostini Falcon. Here are all of the empty paint cans I used up on this Hasbro Falcon Conversion.

Yeah it was a lot more expensive than I thought it would be. I will admit some of this was used on test pieces but it was necessary to figure out what I was doing. So I could probably say 1 can of AS-20 and 1 can of Dullcoat were not necessary. Also maybe a half can of Primer...

Also, it should be noted that Tamiya's Matte Black doesn't cover very well AT ALL!!! I can honestly say you can get just as much coverage for a shadow coat from 4 cans of Testors Flat Black as you would get from 8 cans of Tamiya. And in the end it looks just as good.

I have made some progress on the base. It has been a busy year so far so I am not as far along as I had hoped I would be. Here are some pics.

Here are all of the parts laid out ready to be cleaned up

Here is half of it cleaned up and assembled.

Fully assembled.

I decided to put in some of the lines that you see in the movie. Drew these in with pencil and the painstaking scored them in by hand with a Dremel bit so they would have depth.

Here it is ready to be primed by the Falcon.

And here it is all primed.
