Complete Antman coming soon for Halloween season!

Hey there

I thought it was time to start a build thread on this.
I am trying to complete my ANTMAN in time for Halloween.

I have made good progress but there is still a ton to be done.

First things first. I expect delivery of Curtis, The Rocketeers awesome Antman helmet to ship later this week

So more on the finishing of that when I receive it.

I made a series of templates in a design program
that helped me in creating the hardware for the costume.
I would like to offer these up for other members to use if they
are in the process of building their own Antman or if they are on the fence and decide to divein

First of these is the belt.

Here is my progress so far.
All pieces were constructed of either 3mm or 1mm sintra PVC board.
Almost all sign companies will be happy to give away their scrap pieces if you ask them politely
and explain what you are using it for. Most business today would rather have their scrap go anywhere but in a land fill.

here are my main belt pieces
These pieces are still a little rough need a little more filler and sanding before primer

Just a little update in the gauntlet pieces.
What a pain in the but cutting all these little pieces and then gluing them together.

here are two more pieces of hardware I completed yesterday

These are the two pieces that are mounted to the top of the shoulders.
they were the most difficult yet.

Very small pieces and lots of angles

and two of the boxes on the back that the group of three hoses connect to

I found the perfect solution for the Hoses

5mm Glow necklaces 22 inches long
and
5mm Glow bracelets 8 inches long

buy them in 50 count and they are only 8 cents for bracelets or 19 cents for the necklaces

just crack em and let them become dark then paint them up

this is about 20% narrower than 1/4 inch rubber tubing which makes a pretty big difference when they are compared
side by side.

but the real bonus is they sell an upgraded decorative connector for 2 cents each that look just like the connectors on the costume
just paint them silver and weather the depressions in the ring detail with black

you can cut them at the needed angles and super glue them back together

Most of the hardware pieces have been primed.

May need a small spot fill and re-prime here and there but most pieces are ready to be wet sanded to give them a nice smooth finish
before I apply the black gloss coat. then another round of wet sanding, then the metallic silver coat.

That is some impressive work. Hopefully you can get it all assembled in the next month. Time flies when you're working on projects like this.

I found a piece of marine vinyl with a hexagon pattern stamped in it that I think will be perfect for the red inserts in the suit.
I ordered a yard which should be more than enough. I think if I airbrush some highlights and then blend in the edges in black it will look really nice.

I did a guick test by just rubbing some acrylic paint on the edge and then wiped it off
