I've finally got around to posting NEW content, lots of good stuff coming down the pipe!

Anyway, a fan of mine gifted me this model kit and it seemed only fair to tackle it before anything else.

Here's a link to the first video in the build log. https://youtu.be/gggvL-QwFfM

For anyone who's seen my videos before you'll notice a change in how I edit. I've made efforts to remove any meandering conversation, 'ummm's', 'uhhh's', etc. My hope was to keep the energy level high while providing quality content.

Oh, and here's some photos of the first day of building as well

Great... a star trek classic ! :love
I have one myself. Its a nice model... I have build my Revell D7 with lights and without this panel lines :) My next projekt is the Revell TOS Enterprise, the same scale.
Looking forward to see yours finished. Happy modeling.

Thanks Pedro Looks like my education in electronics assembly didn't go to waste ;)

Part 3 is a go!

On today's episode I focus on adding windows and using a different type of rod material for the stand.

After a bit of a break we're back to electrical!

The focus of today's episode is lighting up the Warp Engines.

I start with a completed assembly to show you the results then do a guide to how I did the build up.

There are a couple of non conventional approaches in today's episode of Jason's Model Shop. There's no light blocking applied to the inside of the nacelle, nor is there reflective paint added (to aid in even light transmission).

I wanted a very dim glow from the engines. Skipping those two steps, as well as the positioning of the LED tape gave me the desired results.

More lighting!

This is the final step in lighting up the Revell Germany Klingon D7 Battlecruiser.

I competed the warp engine last episode and have moved onto the single flasher on the upper hull (as seen in Trials and Tribble-ations). Until this point I was uncertain if I would be adding the lighting for the impulse engines.

In the end I decided to go that route, but leaving it so late in the process is reflected in the rats nest of a wiring job. However, everything works and all is well.

I hope you enjoy today's episode and thank you for watching Jason's Workbench.

There's lots to see in this final episode of the D7 Class Battlecruiser:

https://youtu.be/Te2_I49Y3rU

Etching panel lines, adding window glaze, decals, etc.

Final Thoughts:
The Revell Germany Klingon D7 Class Battlecruiser is a pretty fantastic model.
The parts fit is near perfect, very little putty was required.
It's clear the model was manufactured with lighting in mind, making my job much easier.

My only real complaint is that the windows are way out of scale. Beyond that, it's a near perfect model kit.
I highly recommend getting one, if they're still available.

I hope you enjoy today's episode and thank you for watching Jason's Workbench.
