Vader's MPP shroud (update)

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

It's important to know what kind of metal the Heiland is made from...and what the chrome-like material is.
Sometimes the base metal and the plating metal don't jive well, so oftentimes, a layer of an "intermediary" metal is required, before plating the final outside layer.

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

Does anyone know anything about polishing chrome? Recommended products etc... Most of the scratches on my Heiland will be covered by the clamp and grips, so if I could just polish it up I think it'd be ok.

Also, I know that the Vader saber has a bubble strip, but I've seen several that have a circuit board backing the bubble strip. Is this specific to a certain version of the saber? Are there any makers of circuit board backboards?

I'm trying to compile a list of the rest of the parts and where to get them. I know where to get the grips, clamp and bubble strip.

As far as I remember, the ANH version has the Extracta bubbles, and the ESB version has the circuit board (among several other differences!)

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

From ANH till ROTJ Vader's MPP always had the Exactra bubblestrip ... since the latest discovery in a Pennsylvania casino museum, and currently in a private collection, of the real MPP lightsaber prop used on screen, we know that the Exactra was cut with the electrical board underneath and shoved into the MPP clamp :

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

I made a test version with the wrinkle coating and I installed it to my Heiland. The thumb screw is custom made and the D-ring is the same as used for the Luke ANH, ESB and V2.
The first batch of 10 will be ready and for sale this week. Price update will follow.

So excited! I can't wait to replace my powder-coated Parks shroud. Any eta on the new calc bubbles? I'm hoping to grab a shroud, t track, and bubbles all in one go.

Which Vader saber is this, ANH or the ESB? I'm not as familiar with the differences between MPP Vader sabers. I know they did the 7 grips in ANH and 6 for ESB just like Luke's. Did they both have the circuit board under the bubble strip?

I'm trying to make up my mind on which one to build, ANH completes the set of Luke, Obiwan and Vader. Buuuuuut, I like less grips personally and the epic duel in ESB is hard to top.

Re: Vader's MPP shroud

That's the ESB/ROTJ version ... and it's not quite certain whether the ANH MPP also had the circuit board underneath, however most likely ... then again there were 2 versions of the ANH with silver sidebars and with black the so-called Vader ANH V2 :

See how the clamp is much nearer to the T-tracks? And there are 7 bubbles apparently on the V2 with the first and last cut a little short :wacko

The ESB/ROTJ lightsaber version also had extra wires added into those sockets . . . red, white, blue, grey and brown and longer T-tracks :)

I would appear that the bubble strip is longer than the clamp there, and they let the clamp fall towards the ANH t track. Weird.
