TFA Graflex Research (That's a Graflex, right? Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

You mean in TFA?
Anybody has a link to this video or podcast?

i haven't seen anything but read the scene was finished and pulled last minute after reading all the internet hate. the scene continues with the hand crashing on a planet and little alien finding it and using it as a fire starting stick...

i honestly didnt believe the float space hand was going to be real, but now seeing so many articles about it being cut last minute i wouldn't be surprised if we see it on the bluray release bonus scenes..

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

On a plaque for the TFA saber prop at one of the recent displays, it was stated that the saber was "salvaged from cloud city's industrial depths". I'm still doubting that the floating saber/hand shot is legit, personally.

i sure hope your right, i didnt like the idea either

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

Had a hard time believing the hand/space thing. It would actually raise more questions... like how did it get in to SPACE? Wasn't Cloud City hovering/orbiting a gas giant planet (Bespin), with breathable atmosphere and gravity? That was my understanding...but then, I miss a lot in these movies ;)

yeah, sounds pretty far fetched even for Star Wars.......... the lightsaber would somehow defy gravity and launched itself into space, then travel to another star system on sub-light speed*, finally, survive atmospheric re-entry and is still functional.......?

*ok there has been the precedent of the falcon going to Bespin w/o it's hyperdrive

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

....then travel to another star system on sub-light speed...

JJ Abrams is a guy who apparently thinks whatever happens in outer space should be instantly visible to the naked eye in real-time on whatever planet you happen to be standing on (see: the destruction of Vulcan in Star Trek '09, the destruction of the Hosnian System in TFA), so I wouldn't put it past him. Sometimes I think he just doesn't understand how space works. At all.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

True. To test I installed the HASBRO clamp over a real clamp today and indeed it fits perfectly. You can even fix the rectangular bars on top of it without cutting or damaging anything!

The contrast looks identical to the screen prop! The darker finish shown during the big closeup in TFA made it look like stainless steel or some kind of corrosion-resistant plating other than chrome. I thought for sure that they custom made that clamp, but I guess now's the best time to to go conservative, though I don't understand why they didn't just use tape to cover the original clamp... :?

Notice the thin separation at the edge of the clamp--that'll be the confirmation if we identify the same on the screen prop.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

looks like for a new TFA lightsaber kit we will need the outer covering for the clamp to make it screen accurate!

Nothing really new, but I figured I would post them.

The way the case is set up and placed, its hard to get any other angles.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

speaking of hand and lightsaber, when the TFA toys line were first launched, one of items was Vader's chopped off hand holding his ROTJ saber, but looks like that is another thing that never made it to the final cut of the movie (assuming Hasbro made that toy for a reason)

Are you talking about this? http://www.target.com/p/star-wars-3d-led-nightlight-darth-vader-light-saber/-/A-17316110?
It's just a room light that's supposed to look like the hand is punching through a wall. There's a whole line of them with Marvel and Star Wars heads/hands as wall-mounted lights. No TFA plot points involved in it at all.

Well thanks for those pictures ... you just confirmed that for TFA or at least this exhibition ... a 'Manufactured by Graflex Inc.' flashgun was used :)

1 vintage G R A F L E X located out of 4 with patent numbers ... and 6 more to go :)

hmm you could be right, but I do remember that it was the ROTJ saber (this one seems to be ANH/ESB), I will need to visit my local Target again to confirm

thank you for the pics! it looks like the gap between the grips and the end of the graflex is the thickness of the D ring! this kobold has hex head screws instead of rivets, is there more then 1 LB? i thought the LB had security screws in the kobold?

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

Both Disneyland in CA and Disneyworld in FL a have their own LB.

Can anyone confirm if the Graflex in the CA LB is genuine?

I only took this potato shot in Anaheim, but it looked like a real flash to me.
