Purchased a kit, working on improvements.

So, I just bought a DREDD 3D kit. Included are the pictures. I know the suit is one of Kurt Struss' and the Lawgiver and helmet one of Pinski's. Can you all help me identify the remaining pieces? The kit does not include boots, but I'd like to know the source for the remaining pieces.

Re: Purchased an almost complete Dredd kit. Help me identify and comment?

Hey dude, some of it is hard to be certain ie:- the buckle..there's at least 3 makers that have production made buckles that they cast from, same with the zipcuffs. so could be any one of those, the pads look like Kurts but I can't be sure...are they foamy?

The mag holders look to be Studio Creations and the holster a Standinman Bolin there's only two makers of (innacurate but good quality and certainly passable with some padding) holsters :- Standinman and Duncan @ Dorset blades who sells through Daz Wildman in the UK, but your holster looks to be a Standinman one.

The Heels and Toes are deffo Lee Fields (Bawzprops) although the toes could be Art Andrews - Lee's are all rubber.
And the gloves are Leathernext V6's I think. (Could be V5 they've done a few now)

Leatherparts are Gearbox Leather (Dave Ferrick)

Hope this helps :D

Thanks for the info! What could I do to improve this? Are there better replicas of some of these pieces out there?

Well depends on how much you want to just get costumed as a Judge and have fun or whether you want to go full on movie accurate reproduction...

If it's the former you're laughing as it's all great kit!

If it's the latter you're gonna have an expensive quest into the unkown :D

I went for a mix of the two for my uniform.
I made my own more accurate (and better fitting) holster, ( how to here - http://www.therpf.com/f71/lawgiver-holster-kydex-leather-whole-lotta-luck-202247/ ) I had my own leather belt parts custom made, the rest is a mix of production castings and off the shelf available props from existing makers (Leathernext/Struss etc..)

The truth of the matter is there's not really any way to have a fully 100% accurate movie uniform unless you buy...a movie uniform :D so just have fun with it and upgrade or change out elements as you see fit and can find/afford.

:D

Picked up my kit today. Needs a little work. This is V1 of Kurt's armor and I've been reading through the threads to see what improvements can be made. First thing I noticed right off the bat is that the bottom half of the eagle is on top of the wings which causes everything to line up incorrectly. Has anyone else run into this issue and what was your fix?

Re: Purchased a kit, need help with improvements!

Did a lot of reading last night and ready to tackle this thing. Excellent info over at studiocreations.com, the Judge Dredd Costume Group on Facebook and here. First project is going to be the tactical vest. The individual I bought it from actually ended up having some spare eagle armor so going to pull the Kurt armor and replace that shoulder. Will strip all the armor and remove the odd cloth border put on all of the pieces as then sew them back down.
